What do you guys think of Scion XB's?  I'm almost decided on buying one as I will need a new car soon.

I'm sold on the fact that they get such good gas mileage and are highly rated as both desirable and reliable by Consumer Reports.

What do you guys think of them?

I like the fact that you can customize them easily, but dont you think it would have better fuel economy if it were more aerodynamic?

It's a rolling box for christ sake! (not that it looks bad mind you)

I imagine a guy with a hat popping out and shooting everyone with an Uzi.  Kinda the same feeling I get when I see a PT Cruiser.

My buddy gets 41mpg highway.  I thought the same thing but even CR rates it at 38 highway and 28 city (if memory serves me correctly).

I can't find another car besides an overpriced hybrid or a tiny, tiny pillbox that gets that mileage.

I liked the Scion car.
Didn't that have the same milage?

As for Aerodynamics.
You wouldn't think it but that is probably very aerodynamic.

I don't remember if that was the car based of the body of a fish that is also very box like. And oddly enough extremely aerodynamic.

The real reason that it gets good gas mileage is that it doesn't weigh anything.
The reason it's aerodynamic is that it's still a small car, despite its large appearance.
Put it next to a pickup truck and you will realize this.

I park my Dakota next to one all the time and it is half the size of my small truck. I think some of use could left it into the bed of my coworkers F-250.

That article is a riot!  laugh

"Unlike the Pontiac Aztek, an SUV so gruesome it turns onlookers to stone"

and

"Maybe the key to understanding/living with/appreciating the xB's quirky appearance is to be old enough not to give a damn. "

And there was alot of other funny shit in there.  Tongue
But the Aztec comment is classic and oh so true.

not the most imaginative design though.

the Scion's are made by Toyota, so they should last.  I'd look into a Civic DX or LX model, about the same price and known to get above 40 mpg.  I had a 96 Civic and it was a damn nice ride for the money...
