I'd sign up, but the game would crush my video card much like Conan crushes the skulls of his enemies.

Strange MMO is my opinion. Will be hard to break into the MMO field with WoW out there.

Is Everquest still around? The only MMORPG I ever hear about any more is WoW.

Yeah, kinda odd, the Conan fan base isn't very big when compared to, say, LOTR which is also trying to enter the field. The Conan universe is kick ass though, I'd check it out if it was a good game and my computer could play it, but eh, WoW's probably better,

Everquest 2 is out, Vanguard is out, Guild Wars is out, LOTRO is in Beta, the fantasy MMORPGs outside of WoW are abundant and they all have tiny l337 populations. WoW seems to be the popular thing while the l337 crowds turn up their noses and go wander around all lonely like in massive empty worlds, I'll stay in my overpopulated server of 26,000+ players.

I'm not sure how other gameplay stacks up to WoW but I imagine it's no better. Blizzard just hit gold and delivers a premium product. I think the ten day free trial was a big reason for their success over the competition.

Until a Samurai MMO game comes out I'm sticking with WoW.

Ultima Online still around? Wasn't that the first big MMORPG?

I think its more than that even.  People run their own servers for it now.  My neighbor still plays it afaik.

Doesn't EVE have a big following?  I know it's nothing like WoW but I thought it was still fairly large.

I really want to see a World of Starcraft.  I am more interested in a space-based MMORPG than the dungeons and dragons like games.

I can't find anything that says they have been shut down, but my neighbor only plays on the "shard" at this point.

Yeah I just didn't include EVE or Galaxies cause they aren't fantasy based, may be silly but one can imagine a gap in player bases.
