I'll say. I grow weary of Halo being the only damn game with 4 player split screen system link.

Split screen is dying boys. Granted I had a blast at your house playing Den but it is dying. now that you have a 360 maybe we can get together and play something. If you guys both get Marvel that could be some fun.

^I disagree. A game like Rock Band, for example, would be impossible without split screen! And if they made the multiplayer online only, or if it system linked only 1 person per tv/360, it wouldn't give you the same feeling, would it?

This is no different than playing a split screen shooter. Having everyone together in the same room playing on the same TV or 2 is infinitely more fun than everyone being in their own homes. And games like COD4 are still coming out with 4-player split screen locally, but unfortunately the developers didn't take the time to add in system link for 4 players on a 2nd TV/360; and that's one major area where COD3 is better. The Far Cry games on the original Xbox made the same mistake, but even with only 4 players on 1 TV, that game's awesome!

Further, playing together in the same room is what's making the Wii such a big hit!

Developers need to keep in mind that over half of their audience still don't play console games online. A console like the 360, which has system link, needs to have more games created to utilize it effectively. I'm just glad that Halo 3 stuck to its roots and gave us 4 players split screen per TV/360.

I have to agree that it is a huge selling point being able to play with your friends then and there, instead of trying to get them to also buy the system and game. Something I really liked is that Colin McRae Rally for computer actually allows four player split screen, as split screen games are almost non-existent for computers.

Rock Band and a lot of the Wii games are not splits screens. They are 4 players on the same screen and to me thats a huge difference. There will also be split screen games but with online consoles becoming the norm and more and more people going online there is less reason for developers to add 4 player split screen.

Industy insider, Surfer Girl, is not impressed by Far Cry 2...

http://softrockhallelujah...d-kingdom-of-delayed.html

"Far Cry 2 has also been delayed because it was terrible. The game does not look like NEAR what has been shown. Even with the best PC available to the developers, the game just does not match what has been shown so far. Far Cry 2 is both bad and requires one hell of a machine (PC) to run."

I really hope they turn things around.

^This is upsetting news. I also hope they can turn it around so at least the console versions are worth playing.

I haven't played the 1st one yet. I need to be less-sociable. Farcry is 15 bucks at most shops now (in Australia).

I don't see where Rock Band having 4 players on the same screen is a "huge difference" from 4 player split screen. It's just doing the split in a different way, imo.

New game with 4PSS: the Club. It looks good so far. Thankfully 4PSS is NOT dead! Maybe this one will system link, too. Cool

I'd rather use system link and bring my own display than squint at a quarter of a screen while I'm sitting 6 feet away or be distracted by 3 other players on the same screen. It was nice 10 years ago but gaming has moved onto better methods even as far as one's own living room are concerned. Unless you have a 50" screen you might as well have a quarter of a controller and only 1 speaker to yourself. Tongue

Rock band is an exception because you all use the same screen equally both as a 4 player interface and as a whole screen experience. The band is one unit on stage with 4 scrolling note meters, not 4 different areas of the map at once. Super Smash Bros series is another exception that works well.

I'll take system link/LAN or online over split screen any day.

^Unfortunately, the logistics of a LAN are impossible with my group since not all the people I play with own consoles. And even if they did, how do you fit 6-8 people in the same room with 6-8 TVs and consoles?

Split screen system link is BIG with my group because it allows everyone to enjoy playing, regardless of skill level or ownership of a console. Yes, the individual screen sizes are smaller, but that's never stopped us from having fun.

I am use to playing games on a 64 inch screen. Even splitting that up isn't that great. To me 4 players on one screen vs split screen is way way different. I am with Keith, I would bring my 19ich LCD TV and hook that up to play system link style.

I am not saying 4PSS can't be fun but with high speed connections and the way games are going I think 4PSS are going to be few and far between. While the Wii will keep the 4 players on the same screen alive and kicking.
