I don't normally buy games at full price but as MOH: Rising Sun gets the second most play time when I get together with Phoenix and the guys for some split screen I HAD to get it.

I was dissapointed that you can no longer simulate multiplayer using bots as you could in Rising Sun. I don't know why they would have eliminated that feature.

I tried the single player and some of the controls changed a bit too. Grenades are no longer a button push. You have to switch to them from your weapon inventory, then push A to pull the pin and pull the trigger to throw it. This is actually more realistic than pushing a button and seeing the grenade fly while you're still holding your rifle.

Health pickups have to be manually used as well since you now can command a squad in certain levels and can opt to use your health pickups to heal yourself or members of your squad.

Some of the other weapons are a bit different too. The M-1 Garand now gives you a sight when you zoom not merely a closer view as in Rising Sun.

I'm looking forward to trying the multi-player soon. I'm thinking maybe Tuesday the 21st might be a good time.

I got a chance to play Europeon Assault split screen last night with Phoenix and a couple other buds. I thought it was very good. We played on at least 8-10 maps and still had about 5 we didn't get to. Good variety on the maps too. One was in a bombed out church which was pretty cool. Though it was just a game it still felt a little strange sniping guys while crouched behind the altar.

The weapon selection is a little different. At the beginning of each round you select whether your character is a sniper, infantry, heavy weapons or whatever. that just determines what weapon you start with then on the play field the weapon pickup point let you switch to any of the other weapons.

You still can't use vehicles though many of the playfields were littered with them. That would have been a nice addition. I also still wish it had the option to simulate multi player like Rising Sun did but it was a damn good multi player game.

Definitely a lot of multiplayer fun. And probably the best graphics of the MOH games on the consoles.

That sucks about the vehicles not being useful.
Do they at least allow for strategic and/or useful cover?

Either for hiding around and sniping or as a place to run to get out of the fire fight?

Thats pretty funny about sniping from the altar too.

they can be used for cover, you just can't operate any of them. it would be cool if you could. in the maps we played there were jeeps, trucks, half tracks, tanks and Spitfire airplanes.

They do provide cover, and have a strategic element as well since you can now crouch-walk and crawl as movement options.

Rising Sun is, at least in the games i've played, one of the best multiplayer games to play with your friends (right behind Star Wars: Battlefront and Goldeneye) so I may have to check this one out. Maybe, it is only forty bucks. Which leads to another something why are so many games being released at 40$ now?

I think enough people have complained that most games that came out at $49.99 aren't worth the price, so they dropped it somewhat to appeal to a larger target market.

Also, many have issue that if a game doesn't have xbox live capability, why should they pay full price for it? Maybe (at least for MoH: EA) that's why they knocked 10 bucks off the list price.

Yeah thats pretty much what I've figured. Except that they lost a sale with me, I've been playing MoH games since Underground on PS1. I'd read about Call of Duty and Brothers in Arms but I'd always remained a loyal MoH'r. Then when I saw EA's 40$ pricetag at the local Gamestop I thought, "Hmm maybe this game sucks or something," (Rising Suns sucky single player made me pretty paranoid) and went home to check the reviews. It's got all right reviews but Brothers in Arms and Call of Duty (for PC at least) slaughter it hardcore, so now I've bought Call of Duty and will probably get BiA instead of this MoH.
Take that EA (the company) you lost 50 bucks because you made me think before I bought.

EA, EA, EA, EA, EA EA, EA, EA, EA, EA EA, EA, EA, EA, EA EA, EA, EA, EA, EA EA, EA, EA, EA, EA EA, EA, EA, EA, EA. Gah!! Which is which? EA or EA?

God I'm tired, does this post make any sense whatsoever? I can't tell.

I played rising sun, and as I was escaping the burning ship, I thought

"ooh - a mail room"

and I forgot about the game, and started doing a virtual tour of the ships mail room, and figuring out how their sorting was organised, and where their flats, letters, and pakcets went.
