No MS lost a ton of money on console sales.
But now they are a hug part of the industry and MS had the money to throw at a new project.

A few hundred mil isn't going to kill them.
if memory serves all companies lose on the hardware and have had to make it up on software.

This is an awesome quote

" upcoming PlayStation 3 controller will be unable to pull double duty as a precision kangaroo killer."

I hope it is not that ugly ass ball in the drawing.

Bend over, kids:

"Chicago (IL) - George Fornay, president of Sony computer Entertainment Europe, provided the first credible information on a possible price of Sony's next-generation game console. According to media reports, Fornay predicted a price range of 500 to 600 Euro, which could mean a price of at least $500 and as much as $750 for US consumers."

Update 1:16 pm EST: In an official response, SCEE corporate communications did not confirm reports that the PS3 will cost up to 600 Euro. Instead, the company told gamesindustry.biz that the indication of a price point has been "a mistranslation or misunderstanding of the discussion, which was actually focused on the relative value of PS3 as a Blu-ray Disc player."

Although they say it was misquoted, does make you wonder, no?

I did. I don't see why a Sony fanboy such as yourself should be using an emoticon such as Tongue .

As I said before, it should still be a disconcerting that a figure so high would even be mentioned, even if they don't anticipate selling it for that much. It kind of shows you their game plan, and from the looks of it, it does appear as though Sony will have no problem setting a "reasonable" price for their masterpiece.
