A PC port from days gone by.  Alot of people either love this game or hate its existance.  I myself am somewhere in the middle.  Not a horrible game, but not the greatest either, IMO.  Any other opinions?

Never played it. How's the split-screen multiplayer?

There's alot of slow-down during co-op play.  There's so much coming at you that the Xbox doesn't seem to be able to keep up.  However, you don't see the same slow-down in Deathmatch...of course you don't have all those enemies coming at you at once.  The split screen is pretty standard, but I found it kinda hard on the eyes.  You have so many enemies coming at you that it's hard (for me anyway) to focus your eyes on the smaller co-op screen to see what you're shooting at.

I know I'm in the minority on this game...it just didn't excite me like other shooters have.  Tongue

I have been meaning to play this game. Looks like nice mindless fun. Can it be played in short 20-30 minute sittings?

Each of the 36 levels are extremely long, so 30 minutes would be the minimum for each level.  That's probably why the game seemed to go on and on for me.

It is mindless fun, at least on the computer.

The best part of it thought is the coop mode.  It kept us entertained for hours during lan parties.  Don't know how that is on the console though.

Try out the Crackdown demo from XBL. It's a blast to play around with! [no pun intended] Mindless for the most part, but with fun challenges if you so choose them.

Serious Sam is one of the 5 best shooters of last generation along with XIII, Deus Ex, Geist, and Tribes 2 (on pc).
