You know, I was thinking that maybe we could use the pirate flag for games like this.

The Sachen games usually bring up the same type of debates that the Atari Beagle Bros. games do.  It is very hard to put them in thier own category.  I personally do consider them part of the US NES collection, but that's just because they seem like a fun thing to have.

I think that original titles and ONLY original titles should be in with NES releases... If they were readily available to the general public (if only by mail order). Pirate games should have their own catagory and of course, use the flag cause it rocks hard.

Pirate games should be listed under the system they play on but put them with the Pirate Flag as its region code. If the game was made for and is playabl on that system it should be in that systems release list.

I have a list of Sachen games, but the only reason it has not been added to the database is it is such a shady area of whether or not they count as part of the regular library.  I would consider them as such, for several of the same reasons as Sauza.  However, I realize that not all collectors would agree, and for some very valid reasons.  I think what will ultimately happen is the titles will be assigned a new type category other than the "S" (for "software") that most games have.  Perhaps a U will be used for "unconventional" or something of the sort.  This would allow users to differentiate in the searches and collection script whether or not they want titles like this displayed.  I may also use this for stuff like Neo Geo Freak releases, and perhaps even move the Beagle Boys/Zellers games over to this category too.

While the pirate flag idea may seem cool, it probably won't happen.  Most pirate games were still released in specific regions, so they will retain that region code and the flag to go with it.

Awwww

You could still use the P for Pirate instead of U for Unconventional though.

There were some GBC games released without Nintendos liscense. I am pretty sure it was by the same company who makes gameshark. (Brain isn't functioning so don't remember who that is...,)
