I want to send one NES game to Fleach.  I live in the US.  Fleach lives in majestic Canada.  The USPS will get the package there, but at a cost greater than the game itself!

Does anyone have any tips on how to take the sting out of international shipping?  This is my first attempt at shipping to Canada, and I'd like it to be successful... and cheap.

Minimum to Canada is in the 8-12 range last i knew.
I think once you get past the size of 2 DVD boxes it starts to get really pricey.

Yeah, that's what I'm looking at in terms of cost.  While I'm glad to know I had the price figured properly, it doesn't make that price any cheaper.

Yea, It's insane to ship there.  I recall the first time I shipped to Canada about 8-10 years ago it cost about the same to ship something within the U.S.  It sucks now.

around $10 is completely normal for just about anything bigger than a letter. moving to canada won't help, i find sometimes it actually makes it worse. i've regularly had things cost me $16 (canadian) to ship domestically that would cost me about $8 to ship to the US.

I really appreciate you going through all of this for me for just an NES game. I guess Canada Post and USPS noticed a huge number of parcels travelling between the two countries and decided to suck more money out of us.

Canada's actually a pretty awesome place... Except when it comes to shipping things.

You can blame the Canada Post strike for raising rates even more. I remember spending $25 to send something for Christmas to Canada for a flat-rate box.

Do NOT ship priority.  First Class International is significantly cheaper, and despite their estimates, I've never noticed a difference in the speed of delivery.  The only caveat is that there is no tracking.
