NYC is a dirty dirty place. I highly recommend no one ever go there.
Expect an account of the city w/pictures this weekend.

How was the Nintendo World Store? I'm tempted to go to NYC just for that...

I was actually dissapointed to see that the Guggeinheim was in such poor shape, it needs some major repairs.
We were planning on going into the Guggenheim, however it was closed that day. Additionally, we were supposed to go to MoMA, but instead chose to get a good spot in line for The Daily Show. Plus it would have been an additional cab fare. If you are ever in NYC again, I highly recommend seeing The Daily Show, it was certainly a highlight of the trip.
The Nintendo store wasn't really "impressive" more than exactly what I was expecting. There were areas to play Game Cube and any Game Boy game. (They had a nifty little rig that got the Game Boy games from a central server, and all you did was select the game you wanted to play.) There was a little gift shop area and a Nintendo museum if you will. I will post the pictures of that part soon. I hadn't planned on going to the Nintendo store at all, but actually happened upon it while I was at Rockafeller Center. (The Nintendo store is right next to the studio for The Today Show.)

OMFG!
It is a giant Museum of Nintendo goodness.
I need to go there... Soon. Very soon.
Does it cost money to get in?
I have never actually heard much or seen anything from inside the place before.

The only thing that I didn't take a picture of was a cabinet that had a keyboard (piano, not pc) and the really big gun for SNES. It is a store first and foremost with a little homage to Nintendo past on the second floor.
Also, if you look at the top of the Nintendo World picture, you can see the Game Cube area. There were egg chairs like in Men in Black set up facing 4 plamsa screens each with a Game Cube hooked up.
It wasn't very crowded either, which was shocking for NYC, I can only imagine what it looks like during the Christmas rush though.

It's a prototype for the NES called the AVS (Advanced Video System).
Advanced Video System (from the caption card in the lower left hand corner):
The Advanced Video System, or AVS, was the prototype of the popular Nintendo Entertainment System. The AVS was shown publicly only once, in 1985 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The AVS was revolutionary for its day. The system included a keyboard, handheld joystick, light wand/gun, music keybo!rd, and a data storage unit, that were all integrated wireless. The revolutionary controllers were also wireless, and could be stored in the front of the main unit, or control deck, when not in use. The AVS combined many features found in computers of the day and included innovative functions such as game editing and storage, music composition, loght wand-TV game interaction (you could shoot at the TV), and never before seen 8-bit video game graphics.
