According to
www.animalxing.com
, the Red Tulip glitch was in fact a screw-up on Nintendo's part, and they are working on a fix for it (which will probalby be an item that can be placed on the broken square to fix it).

When you hit the rock you get knocked back.
So...
Stand in front of the rock.
Turn around take one step back.
Turn left dig a hole.
Turn Right dig a hole.
Now when you get knocked back you will hit one of the holes and stay in place.
If you want to be extra careful dig a hole so your standing in grass and the row behind you is 3 holes in a row.
That should work if memory serves and things haven't changed in the DS one much.

I don't know what the hell is going on in my town as my wife has taken control of my DS.
though I suppose since she is expanding, furnishing and paying off our house that would make her my sugar mama.

But after the 1000 bells bag it is done. You hear a chime when the 1000 bell bag comes out.

As far as I know, its 2500 ? :-/ It even acts like the coin brick in Super Mario Bros. When its done giving out bags, it makes a musical chime.
2500 is the most I have gotten

Okay, an explanation of how to get 8,500 bells from a rock.
Here's a diagram of how to dig the holes in position to the rock:
R=rock
O=holes
Y=your character
O
R Y O
O
Face the rock with the shovel and keep hitting A until you get 8,500 bells (it will drop 7 bags in all with the following bell values: 100, 200, 400, 800, 1000, 2000, 4000).
You'll need to dig the holes before you hit the rock (obviously). Doing this with every rock in your town until you find the one with bells in it can be pretty monotonous, but the results are well worth it. This is the only reason I've been able to pay 10,000 bells on my mortgage (almost) every day.
Hope this helps!

Eh, I have an orange orchard growing with more than 50000 bells worth of fruit. Given the regrowth rate on oranges, and my constant expansion of the orchard, and I have myself a lovely business.
In other news, I finally got the second story to my house! Yay!

When is it a good time to plant fruit? Do you have to water the stuff you plant? I lost a cherry tree and a coconut tree.

If you plant too close to other things they won't gro big enough or will die off completely.

Yea don't build right next to houses or rocks or fenches, etc.
I don't remember if trees will kill trees probably.
But i know flowers/moveable objects won't bother trees growth.

I try to plant all trees in 2 or 3 hole spacing. Remember, if you plant a lot of trees a few will die, and it also appears as though certain places can't support trees period.
