Eating at my soul is a game I played several years ago and I wish to play it again, unfortunatly, I cannot remember the name, I'm hoping you guys might be able to help.  Here are the details:

Point and click shooter, you are in a spaceship fighting aliens that have invaded earth.  First is a cutscene with your badass red spacefighter, then to mission 1 which is in an urban area. A computerish female voice says "good shot" and "fire" way the hell too much.  Then an animated cutscene of your character chick getting promoted to major.  Then mission 2 is in computer chip land inside some special computer shooting more invading microbes or something.

Those are the only two missions I played.  Thanks for your efforts.

I played it a couple of years after Doom2, and sometime before Dark Forces.

It was on a PCGamer Demo disc between number 10 and probably 30.

Sorry that I can't remember more, thanks for the help.

Syndicate was a point and click shooter. That sounds similar and was out around that time, but I don't think it's the game you're looking for.

The only game I can think of that sounds remotely like that is Traffic Department 2192.  You're a female character in the police force, though if I recall correctly it's not point and click.  It is a great game though!

If this isn't it, could you tell us some more info?  Such as what viewpoint you play the game from (top-down, first person etc.), what KIND of shooter it is and roughly how long ago you played it.

[Edit: ignore how long ago, just read your other reply Tongue  Any other info would be great tho]

It was a first person shooter, as the ship automaticly flies on its course, you click on the enemies you fly past to shoot them. As your mouse goes over the enemy mechs, the robo-female voice says "fire" if you shoot them in the head or vital point is says"Good shot"  Thats all I really remember.
