I'd have no objections, but Jim and Ray might feel that the teams would be unfair.

Don't be shocked Scott...lol Actually I played well yesterday and today. I think taking a break had a lot to do with it. Tonight I won't be playing, just training our n00b and having some fun.

I played last night and I was actually effective again! That felt good. The way that they tweaked the weapons sort of messed up my play style, so I had to abandon my old style and take up a less aggressive approach. It's been working out well so far (except for a few bumps on asencion).

I still haven't overcome the change and I'm not sure I want to put in the effort.

It's actually not that hard to deal with. You just have to make sure you are walking around with a good combonation of short and long range weapons (i.e. battle rifle and shotgun). Also, grenade placement is alot more important than before.

He doesn't like it because he use to force people into situations to hunt him down.
So now a well placed grenade ruins it.
I didn't realy have to change my play style at all to get use to it.
I was lucky

That's not true. However, I abhorred the BR and I was a dual wielder. I wasn't much for throwing grenades either. It forces me to totally change my playing style.
And to be honest, I'm getting burned out on Halo 2. I feel the use of shields dumbs down play and takes out any strategic aspect of play. The fact that people aren't really penalized for dying just promotes people to be reckless and reduces everything to who's reflexes are better rather than who is actually putting thought and strategy into the match. If there was another game of the same caliber, I would switch.

ÂÂÂ
First off, if you're talking about OVERshields, I think that they're a strategic aspect all their own. More often than not, most players know where they are, and if you're fortunate enough to be in a position to be able to grab one, you'll have to travel to where the combat is to be able to take advantage of it...all the while seeing the overshield timer continue to run down.
Secondly, what do you mean when you say that you're "not penalized for dying"? I'm lost on that one.
Further, I actually think that the changes are good for the game. They make more logical sense. If you get hit full force by a grenade, you *should* die, not just get your shield knocked down to critical levels. And balancing out the weapons was another need, it gives respawnners a better chance to get back in the game to compete. I also like the increase in value to the melee attack, now you don't *have* to have the shotty or sword to be able to take advantage of short range.
Lastly, I'm of the opinion that if anyone is experiencing "burn out" on any one game, play something different until you feel genuinely interested in coming back to it. I've found that doing so gives you a fresh perspective to be able to see new aspects of the game that you may not have previously noticed because of the burnout factor. Just a thought.
Overall, I have no complaints about the changes.

To address your points:
1. No, I'm talking about the regular shields. I prefer playing a game where some strategy is employed. I really enjoy Marines (pistols, BR's, and no shields) because you have sneak around and use your brain. Where should I stand? Is this a good point to pick people off? What if he throws a grenade over here? We just killed them over there so they should be coming up the blue elevation thing. I'll pick them off before they hit the ground. Etc etc.
2 or more guys repeatedly trying to shoot each other in the head with the BR while their shields go down as they dance back and forth like the Village People having a seizure is not my idea of realism.
2nd- in individual slayer type games you are not penalized for dying. The guy who "wins" is the guy who gets the most kills. Therefore, it encourages reckless behavior that nobody would employ in combat. If I can get 25 kills even with 30 deaths I still win.
Even in Team Slayer (in which deaths really matter because they're scores for the other team) how many people actually celebrate those who die the fewest times? I tend to be a defensive player who crouch walks around. I tend to get a medium number of kills with a very low number of deaths. However, the guy who gets 30 out of 50 kills, but also dies 27 times gets celebrated. WTF is up with that?
3rd- I have some problems with the changes in the game. Bungie created the combat they wanted by assigning the strengths of the individual weapons. In fact, in their own strategy guides they tell you which combos they set up as the most powerful. Then they went and neutered the magnum and PR. I don't have a problem with them raising the grenade strength, but I do have a problem with them arbitrarily changing so many weapons at one time. Now everyone is tossing pineapples like crazy.
Also, the melee attack is a problem as well. If I dual wield and am trying to stay close enough to my enemy to negate grenade use, I get beat down by an idiot holding a rifle. If you really think about it, what are the chances IRL of some idiot killing me with the butt of his rifle when I'm going John Woo on his ass with dual magnums? Since when is a forward strike with a rifle the equivalent of a light saber like alien sword? What's the point of using hte sword anymore anyway?
And how do you guys use the melee attack anyway? In the default config you have to take your right thumb off the stick to activate it so you can't aim properly. If you remap it to the right thumb button you can't snipe very well. Microsoft needs 2 sets of trigger buttons.
/end rant
