The way I see it, Bungie basically lowered the effectivness of dual weilding.  It sucked for me at first because that was my bread and butter, but I learned to deal with it (and when I say that I mean I was finally forced to learn to aim with the BR, Carbine, ect.  Wink).

@  Sensei_Fu - You need to play RTS games. Or maybe Rainbow Six is more "real".

Well, if a player is penalized for dying like you describe, matches would turn into camping sessions because no one would want to move around out of fear of getting hit. That's no fun. H2 is not a stealth game. And even for the more strategic shooters (I.e. Ghost Recon 2, MoH, etc.), there is a health gauge of sorts that could be considered comparable to the shields that Halo 2 employs.

Next, when I'm playing H2, I'm thinking of exactly the strategic principles that you listed regarding positioning, vulnerabilities, etc. If someone outfoxes me to a position or ambushes me from a spot I wasn't expecting so take fire from, I take the approach that I just learned something new.

Everyone has different playing styles, strengths and weaknesses. When the rules to a game change, the player must adapt new strategies to be able to be more competitive. The obvious would be how to use the new weapons effectively. The not-so-obvious would be to change how to become more effective in positioning yourself on any given map, since old positions may no longer be as effective, but previously disregarded positions have become more effective because of the changes.

The bottom line is that no matter what the game (even in professional sports), the rules will change to keep the game evolving, and the players will continually need to adapt to stay competitive.

For me, I know I'm not going to let the changes they made to the game ruin the enjoyment that I get out of it.

That's just my $.02.

Tynstar has a good point Sensei.
RTS are great you should fire up your PC and grab some of the Command and Conquer games.
EXTREMELY strategy based. Just make sure you don't play any inf. money maps.
Because there goes all the strat from the game.
in the mean time just phase yourself back in.
You like strategy so your just going to have to develope some new ones is al the changes mean.

I have come to like Marines myself. I really like it on LockOut.

Me an my buddy played the new Double Team games for 8 1/2 hours. Takin a break for 5 hours to sleep an playin some more - it's just THAT good! If strat is your thing it really is important in 2 vs 2. Especially with skirmy games and rifle battles.

What is the Double Team game all about? Are they held mostly on the smaller maps?

The 2 vs.2 idea sounds great! I think that Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory has a similar setup from what I've heard.

Yep , I played a few games of 2 v 2 and noticed basically you should make your life count because if you die you leave your partner out to dry.  :-/

Double Team is 2 vs 2. It can be tough or easy, but one thing's for damn sure - make sure your partner is a team player and able to handle themself.

So, I've got a question about the new ranks.

It used to be that whichever category had the highest rank, that rank would show next to your name on the friend's list.  Is that what is happening now?

If I have a 10 in Rumble Pit and a 13 in Team Slayer, does my rank show as a 13?

I think so , because I am a 13 in team slayer at the moment and a 6 in team preview. The 13 shows next to my name.

Which brings me to this point ..... Its too easy to level up now  Shocked   I have just started to get to the point where it takes more than 1 good win to level up and we were finally playing some competetion at this point. But after 14 matches and 14 wins in team slayer I am a 13. Granted my team won all but one of our matches by alot. >:-)

I plan on doing alot of big team this weekend and maybe some skirmish. I was hoping to level up to a 20 in team slayer by the end of the weekend as well (maybe)

Maybe I can finally get higher then a 6 next to my name. Naw I doubt it I would have to play ranked games then.

Maybe they are making it easier so when people have Halo's next to there name it is no big deal.

I will play some slayer or big team with you this weekend....

On the subject of ranks however , I feel the ranks will get hard to level near the 20's or mid 20's.....

your clan rank can no longer appear as your highest rank nect to your name. Therefore you wont have everybody joining a "boosting" clan just to get a stupid number or logo next to thier name.

Plus boosting clans is now going to be watched and those involved will be banned  Cheesy

People who wanted into a clan just to have a high level next to thier name are stupid Roll Eyes When I would see people who had the symbol ranks I would point out to everybody in the game that we had a booster among us. laugh

99 percent of them would be offended and get really defensive about it. I would point out that ....Yep I know your a cheater and I am about to own you.  :shooting:
