I took some random pictures of a fire the other night, this one came out pretty cool. I even made it my Desktop background for now.

Some pictures of the limited flooding in our area. Feechy isn't lying, the alleys are messed up. I'll take some more tomorrow, and the next day too.

You'll have to get onto the insurance company about those puddles. Tongue

PS: In response to NES_Rules' photo of fire, I did this in March:

Looks about the same as around here.
It's kind of a weird rain in that it's still quite warm and there is no thunder and lightning. I couldn't believe I didn't see any kids playing in the rain. It was perfect for that.

From the angle of my shots, you can't really tell how deep the water is. In some areas, it will completely submerge your feet and ankle.  Lips Sealed

Me in the garden from last year's rain. If I went further back it nearly went over the top of my wellies. It's only ever done this once. We live halfway up a hill but there's a slight valley between the gardens on the way down, so all the surface water went down it then got backlogged as it got to the fence on the lower side of people's gardens. The garden a couple of doors down (They have low fences I can see over) was completely submerged.

Wow... See, in berwyn, ther is only one large hill, and it is at the oposite end of town. This area is flat. It usually gets pretty bad, but not usually this bad. I think the longest it has ever rained here (as far as I can remeber) is about 29 or 30 hours. The rain started at about 10:30 AM on the 12th, and it is now 2:18 PM on the 13th, so about 28 hours of light to moderate rain before. I wonder how many total inches we have gotten yet... Probably about 2 or 2 1/2.

Since we're reminiscing about past floodings, I'll bring up the highlights from last year.

I got my new camera yesterday. None of these are particularly interesting, I just wanted to get out for a bit and see what my camera could do. I took all of these over the course of 30 minutes or so, just to get a feel for it. I'm still figuring out how to get rid of the wispy "blur" in my images. I figure that will come with time.

The picture of the cathedral was taken at about 10x, so I was pretty happy with the clarity.

They're really nice, Bad Enough Dude Smiley Do you see a blur in all of those because they look sharp to me?

There is blur in the first and last ones. It's not so much a blur as it is a haze, mostly in the area surrounding the focal point of the picture.

I think the pictures look nice, even with that haze (although I'm not really seeing it Tongue) The first and last 2 are a bit lighter than the others so maybe that's what your camera has difficulties with?

The EXIF from the first photo is:

Quote
Camera Make: Canon
Camera Model: Canon PowerShot SD870 IS
Image Date: 2008:09:12 14:10:10
Flash Used: No (Auto)
Focal Length: 17.3mm
Digital Zoom: 1.594x
CCD Width: 3.59mm
Exposure Time: 0.0050 s (1/200)
Aperture: f/5.8
ISO equiv: 80
White Balance: Auto
Metering Mode: Matrix

And from the last one:

Quote
Camera Make: Canon
Camera Model: Canon PowerShot SD870 IS
Image Date: 2008:09:12 14:07:36
Orientation: Rotate 90
Flash Used: No (Auto)
Focal Length: 17.3mm
Digital Zoom: 2.040x
CCD Width: 2.10mm
Exposure Time: 0.0020 s (1/500)
Aperture: f/5.8
ISO equiv: 80
White Balance: Auto
Metering Mode: Matrix

I think those are the two where the effect is most prominent, and they just happen to be the only two where digital zoom was used.

They look a little over saturated to me. Maybe there's a setting in the camera to tone it down slightly.
