(yes, I spelled colour without the "U" - happy!?!!?  Smiley )

Well, I just won me a Neo Geo Pocket Color US auction.  I sort of bid on it on a whim, and ended up winning it.  So all day today, I've been doing mad research into it and available games.  I have to say I'm most impressed.

However, I have a few questions I couldn't find any answers for:

Can I play Japanese carts on the US system?
Do I even want to play Japanese carts on the US system?
Are Neo Geo Pocket (not color) games compatible?
What are some good gaming suggestions?

So far, I'm going to try and score me the following:
Metal Slug: 1st Mission
Metal Slug: 2nd Mission
RockMan Battle & Fightingers
Samurai Shodown 2
Sonic Pocket Adventure
SNK vs. CAPCOM: Card Flighters Clash
SNK vs CAPCOM: Match of the Millennium

Any other suggestions/comments on my list?

The NGPC supports b/w carts and also plays Japanese games. Some Japanese games even play in English on your system.

Other games I can recommand you are:
Cardfighters Clash 2 (first play part one to know the game a bit as there is only japanese text in the second one, but this one is much more balanced, oh and this game is a bit expensive)

Gals' Fighter - Queen of Fighters

Puzzle Link 1 or 2, best puzzle game

Picture Puzzle - Fun game, but once finished you won't look back at it

Neo turf masters - Great golf game

Dynamite Slugger - best baseball game on NGP, liked even though I am not a fan of baseball

All of the games you have listed there are great, OD.  I didn't like that MegaMan game personally, but that whole subseries just isn't my bag.  Cardfighters' Clash is GREAT.  I only have the Capcom version so I don't have all the cards yet.  (Some you can only get from each of the respective versions and others only by linking up two consoles.)  Never did play part 2, though.  If only I could read/speak/understand Japanese.

Pretty much all of the fighers are great.  At the time they came out, they were bar none the best handheld fighting games available.  GBC couldn't even come close.

Both Metal Slug titles and Sonic are of course good as well.  Sonic has a cool little feature where you collect these little yellow cards hidden throughout the game to keep you playing.  Some people won't care about this, but for completion freaks like me, it's cool.

I also have some of the gambling games like Neo 21.  Stay away unless you like gambling games too much or want them from a collector's standpoint.  They're like all gambling games: a waste of money.  (Pun not intended, but that was pretty good now that I look back on it.  Heh.)

Oh, the Pac-Man port is pretty good for a port, but if you buy it, make sure you get the rubber joystick rings.  Without them, the game sucks as you will end up accidentally hitting the four directions Pac-Man can't move and therefor die often.  With them, it's a solid port but nothing special if you already have 90 versions of it, which we all do.  Maybe look for this one after you try the ones you've already got on your list.

Card Fighters Clash 2 is good playable without knowlodge of the language. I finished the main game (don't have all cards yet). The game has much more depth as the strongest cards are not so strong anymore, also the addition of reaction cards which you can play when you're attaced are a great addition. Oh it's useful to use the faq on www.gamefaqs.com to know the meaning of all cards and it's a question of taste if you like the new artwork.

Yes the pocket casino series suck, I didn't really like Pac-Man, I think Crush Roller is a much better game as it has more depth.

Anyway you can't go wrong with the NGP.

If you're intrested, I still have a brand new copy of King of Fighters R-1 UK-version for sale/trade. It's a great game even though it's black and white.

You know, I've had a NGPC for like 5 months now and I still haven't bought any games for it.  Maybe it's time to hit up Ebay.

Also, I've heard good things about BioMotor Unitron.

Make sure you get Sonic, it's a very good game. On par with the genesis sonics, although a little shorter/easier.

Too bad you didn't get this about a year ago. Game Stop and EB Games both were selling Neo Geo Pocket stuff. They were repackaged in blister packs. I spent like $70 bucks and got the system and 13 games.

Dark Arms: Beast Buster
Fatal Fury: First Contact
King of Fighters R-2
Metal Slug: 1st Mission
Metal Slug: 2nd Mission
Neo Turf Masters
Pac-Man
Pocket Tennis
SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash (Capcom Version)
SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millenium
Samurai Shodown! 2
Sonic Pocket Adventure
Puzzle Bobble

EB still has some their website, but not much.

those are actually new games in those 4 packs. they were left overs that hadn't been packaged yet when SNK closed shop. I'd heard that the boxes and manuals hadn't been printed yet. The company that bought all the stock packaged them in those blister 4 packs. They do come with the clear plastic cart holder though. The unit comes wth a single sheet of black & white instruction, none for any of the games.

Some NGPC games can be linked with Dreamcast games with a special linkcable. Some comibinations are:
SNK vs Capcom NGPC (Card 1 and fighter) to SNK vs Capcom DC
KOF R-2 to KOF 1999 Dreammatch Never Ends
Cool Cool Jam to Cool Cool Toon
CardFighters Clash 2 to SNK vs Capcom 2

The linkcables are bit hard to find and it's abit like the link between gba and gamecube.

I need to find one of those cables.
Do you know what the name of it is and if it was only sold in Europe or over here in the US too.
