This is pretty much the reason I quit facebook over a year ago. Feels good to not know every single minute detail of some person's life that I don't even know but am reading because one of my random friends commented on some piece of bullshit.

I use Facebook for events.  Pretty much everyone I know has one, even if they don't really use it, and it's the easiest way for me to keep track of who's attending, who isn't, and who is bringing the chips and dip.  Other than that, I don't really pay attention to it.
