While browsing my local Target Store the other day, I happened across this game. There was a whole section in the Store dedicated to this particular game. I quickly learned that you use little figurines to play the game, much like how you use cards to play The Eye of Judgement, also on PS3. Anyway, despite being targeted towards a younger audience, I won't lie and say I wasn't intrigued by this concept, because I was. Anyway, at the time, I didn't have the cash to buy it (70 US Dollars), so I just said "Meh.", and decided to wait. Well, fast forward to tonight, I got paid, and decided to head over to the Store right after work and pick it up.

I got home, unpacked it, started it up, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by this game. It was actually fun, and I enjoyed it. I also love the concept. You place the figurines on the base that comes with the game, and they are put into the game and you use the one placed on the base as your Character. You can switch them at will to overcome different obstacles in the game. Perhaps the coolest thing in this game is that it features a certain famous Dragon from the PlayStation 1 days.

That "famous Dragon" pictured above is Spyro. Although if you grew up in the 90's, you probably already knew that. He's one of the figurines you can use in the game, and his attacks remind me of the 90's in such a way that's just awesome. Although his appearance has changed some over the years, he still kicks ass.

Anyway, getting back to the game, Spyro is joined by many other Skylanders, including the two in the top picture. There are over 30 of them to collect, with more probably coming soon. As for how the game plays, it's kind of difficult for me to explain. Picture a top-down view similar to Sacred 2 or Diablo 2. You run around collecting items, fighting enemies, and generally just exploring the Skylands, which is the world this game takes place in. Each Skylander has two different attacks (as far as I know) for taking down enemies, a weak, rapid fire attack, and a stronger, single fire attack. I'd place this game in the genre of Action RPG.

Another cool feature of this game is that, when you equip hats (yes, hats) on your Skylander, the Data is stored on the figurine, so that if you play on a friend's console, your character will still be equipped with that hat.

Anyway, as I mentioned earlier, this game is geared towards a younger audience, but I still had fun with it, and it looks to be a pretty long game, so it should keep me busy for a while.

Alright, that's it for now. This is ReddMcKnight, signing off!

See that Flyer? That's the Flyer for the original Arcade version of Splatterhouse. Tell me, are Arcade games usually long? No. Do they usually take HOURS to beat? No. Splatterhouse breaks both of these rules with it's Nightmarish difficulty. I just spent THREE hours playing through this game, and let me tell you, it was not a walk in the park. Splatterhouse has got to be the toughest Arcade game in the world, without question. I continued over 200 Times, played for three hours, and I finally managed to beat it. Seriously, if I was playing the actual cabinet (I was playing an emulated version on the PS3 Version of the game), I would be out a year's salary. It's THAT tough.

Anyway, your probably thinking "Why didn't you just quit then?". I ask myself that same question, as I honestly have no idea. Normally, my temper and low patience would have led me to quit a game like this, but for some reason, I didn't. I just kept pressing forward until I finally beat it. I knew Arcade Games could be sadistic, but I never imagined one would take it this far. The people who developed it are probably laughing about it to this very day. In all honesty, I don't see how anyone could have allowed a game like this to be released. This game probably crushed a lot of kids' spirits when it was first released. Imagine the toughest game you've ever played, and multiply it's difficulty times four, and you have this.

But enough about how tough this game is. How does it play? This time, you can go figure it out for yourself, because there is no way I can give this game an honest review. It's just not in me. If you want to punish yourself for some reason, then go and play this. I just do not think I can give this game a fair review after what I went through tonight. If you want my advice though, stay away from this game and play Ninja Gaiden II instead. You'll save yourself a lot of frustration. Yeah, I went there. It's THAT tough, if I haven't made myself clear enough yet.

This is ReddMcKnight, signing off, and hoping that I won't ever get the urge to play this game again.

Excuse the bad title, but I love the game I based that title off of. Smiley

But seriously, I have been REALLY busy lately, but fear not, for I am still alive. (No pun intended).

So, what exactly have I been doing? Lots of freelance work and hanging out with friends. It's been pretty hectic, but I'm back now.

Now, onto gaming matters: I have been playing games from almost every generation, hence the title of this post. I started out with Punch-Out on the NES, and I played it using my power glove. My arm STILL hurts!

Next up, I decided to give the infamous Shaq-Fu for Genesis a try. Now, bear with me here, and please forgive me, but I did not think it was that bad. Now, it's not like it was Game of the Year, but it was decent.

What game next? Capcom's Aladdin for SNES. I know what your thinking, Movie games are crap, but NOT when Capcom makes them. This was one fun Platformer.

The next game on my list was Virtua Fighter Kids for the Saturn, and out of all the ones I played, this one was the worst. It felt unfinished for some reason, and neither me, or my friend could get into it.

Gamecube time! Metroid Prime 2 rules, and I'm actually still working on it! Here's hoping I get through it without much trouble!

PS3...I was playing Mass Effect 2, until I read about a Save Corruption Bug, so here I am, two weeks later, waiting for the freaking patch! Hurry up already!

Anyway, that's about it for now. Oh, and no Sprite Comic update yet. All this has kept me really busy. Next time for sure!
