While browsing my local Target Store the other day, I happened across this game. There was a whole section in the Store dedicated to this particular game. I quickly learned that you use little figurines to play the game, much like how you use cards to play The Eye of Judgement, also on PS3. Anyway, despite being targeted towards a younger audience, I won't lie and say I wasn't intrigued by this concept, because I was. Anyway, at the time, I didn't have the cash to buy it (70 US Dollars), so I just said "Meh.", and decided to wait. Well, fast forward to tonight, I got paid, and decided to head over to the Store right after work and pick it up.

I got home, unpacked it, started it up, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by this game. It was actually fun, and I enjoyed it. I also love the concept. You place the figurines on the base that comes with the game, and they are put into the game and you use the one placed on the base as your Character. You can switch them at will to overcome different obstacles in the game. Perhaps the coolest thing in this game is that it features a certain famous Dragon from the PlayStation 1 days.

That "famous Dragon" pictured above is Spyro. Although if you grew up in the 90's, you probably already knew that. He's one of the figurines you can use in the game, and his attacks remind me of the 90's in such a way that's just awesome. Although his appearance has changed some over the years, he still kicks ass.

Anyway, getting back to the game, Spyro is joined by many other Skylanders, including the two in the top picture. There are over 30 of them to collect, with more probably coming soon. As for how the game plays, it's kind of difficult for me to explain. Picture a top-down view similar to Sacred 2 or Diablo 2. You run around collecting items, fighting enemies, and generally just exploring the Skylands, which is the world this game takes place in. Each Skylander has two different attacks (as far as I know) for taking down enemies, a weak, rapid fire attack, and a stronger, single fire attack. I'd place this game in the genre of Action RPG.

Another cool feature of this game is that, when you equip hats (yes, hats) on your Skylander, the Data is stored on the figurine, so that if you play on a friend's console, your character will still be equipped with that hat.

Anyway, as I mentioned earlier, this game is geared towards a younger audience, but I still had fun with it, and it looks to be a pretty long game, so it should keep me busy for a while.

Alright, that's it for now. This is ReddMcKnight, signing off!
