I read about this over on Nintendo Age. Really terrible that some people will pull crap like this, and I hope it catches up with him. Some people can't resist the possibility of an easy buck, and I'm sure it won't be the last case of fraud either.

That's a pretty crummy thing to do. I'm glad people take the time to make fakes known.
I think it is surprising there isn't a bigger market for fake video game collectables. It seems like there is so much stuff that is relatively easy to fake and make big money off of. With the accessibility of high end manufacturing, printing and copying I would think there are all sorts of rare items you could make a few examples of. If people get suspicious, just move on to something else.
