As far as marketing ploys go, this was a smart move by Sony.

Maybe?  The stock market types seem to disagree with you..

Moving from the theological to the practical implications of Sony's snafu, the company couldn't have picked a worse time to offend its customers. Sony has already conceded a six-month head start to competitor Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) in the upcoming market-share battle for the next generation of game consoles. Microsoft's Xbox 360 is expected to debut this fall; Sony's PlayStation 3 will not arrive until the spring of 2006.

^Too bad he moved out of his basement. I bet they painted it pink.

I'd buy that game.

"Stock market types" can blow it out their butts.

Yes. The initial shock value may cause a temporary dip in the stock price. But this is Sony we're talking about. In a week all will be forgotten and the stock will bounce back.

I think I'm still going to wait for the Revolution.  This ad hasn't made me want to get a PS3.

K, I have never been able to understand that stupid YaBB icon for "quote".  Anyway....

A Fool has to wonder how many gamers of the Catholic faith will wait around to buy a PlayStation after being dissed by Sony

Give me a fucking break.  Talk about a completely biased article.  Did you see anyone getting "dissed by Sony"?

Thank you.  We should put that in every newspaper and on every station in the country, because seriously, people just need to learn to shut the hell up and deal with it.

I wasn't sure about buying a next-gen system, but now that I've seen that ad I'm definitely getting a PS3!
