Question regarding multiple console set up.

Hey guys!

Looking for some tips and ideas that all of you collectors out there are holding. My apartment is small, but my console collection is large. I like to play pretty much all generations of games and although I've found room for all of my consoles keeping the wires clean is so far very difficult. I have basically all consoles (and a retron 5 to take some of the load off) but I still find myself unable to think of a setup that would allow ease of playing different consoles without too much mess or trouble.

Any suggestions for helping with wire clutter or how you store your extra cables and controllers would be very helpful! Any other ideas is great too. Unfortunately, as I've mentioned elsewhere.. no IKEA where I live. Stupid province.

Use lots of zip ties.

Seems like a good start. I'll have to order some of these.

I was thinking of maybe some sort of bulletin board type of set up. Pinning up or using hooks to put up controllers and wires.

For wire management, plan ahead as far as layout is concerned.  Basically, know how you plan on setting up your consoles before doing so.  Use as many cable management devices (i.e., colored zip ties as Bad Enough Dude suggested, coded per console if you can) as you feel you need.  Try to keep a general direction going with the wires so that they can be bundled together.  If you have excess wiring try to coil it with zip ties near the point of connection (television, receiver) instead of letting it lay loose.

I'm thinking that velcro straps might be better if you need to change the layout later.

I have a TV stand that comfortably fits 8 consoles, an upconverter, a switcher, and a blu ray player. my cables are all hidden from plain view. I don't like zip ties because sometimes you want to unplug things and it can be a pain the ass to cut them.

I agree with Velcro straps. Easy to remove and put back on. You can find them for cheap at a craft store like JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby, or Michaels. I believe in different colors as well

I use Tak Tape to keep wires in check as you can cut it to the length you need.
