So i am pretty sure i had mentioned this before but i recently got a letter in the mail about it.
Which strikes me as odd because i know previous tenants where i rent did not play video games and my name AFAIK is in no way associated with the apartment....
ANYWAYS
"If you bought a new copy of an Electronic Arts' Madden NFL, NCAA Football, or Arena Football videogame for Xbox, Xbox 360, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Gamecube, PC, or Wii with a release date of January 1, 2005 to June 21, 2012 you may be a class member and entitled to benefits from the proposed settlement."
The website for info is
easportslitigation.com
While i like to bitch about gaming companies just as much as the next guy this is an instance where i do think this case is a joke.
Pricing for these games was in line with (nearly) every other game on the market. The EA exclusivity rights just prevented "budget" releases of the games. If anything the other game devs should be getting the settlement having been cut of the market since EA had a monopoly not the jackholes who decided to buy each new game for 60$s a pop.
I think the most important thing to note is this
"Valid claims for the purchase of Madden NFL, NCAA Football, or Arena Football videogames for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, PC, or GameCube platforms (“Sixth Generation Purchasers”) will be valued at $6.79 per new game purchased, up to a total of eight units ($54.32).
Valid claims for the purchase of Madden NFL, NCAA Football, or Arena Football videogames for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or Wii platforms (“Seventh Generation Purchasers”) will be valued at $1.95 per new game purchased, up to a total of eight units ($15.60)."
Hopefully everyone still has their receipts!
So Joe Schmoe who does buy every release every year can get AT MAX 69.92 back. Then he can go buy Madden 13/14/15(depending on when things are decided) and maybe a couple MTN Dew depending on the tax in his area.

So this is pretty much the only instance I will ever find of older sports games being more valuable than new ones.

That is true, I seen several copies of Madden NFL 2002 for $1 yesterday.

Isn't this how class action suits pretty much always wind up anyway?
