Also, it lacks Wi-Fi, not internet connectivity necessarily.

the fine print of the official nintendo page for it says "The Wii mini console does not connect to the Internet and does not support online features in games."

Why do we need a smaller Wii? Didn't Nintendo talk about how small the Wii was when it first launched? Did anyone think man this thing is huge! I wish there was a smaller version.

I wish these alternate colours/colors were real

Oh man the famicom white/red one looks so good.

Agreed. I'd be in for one if they made it look like that.

I really don't see the point of a smaller Wii, the thing is already small. I bet it sells like the GBA Micro did.

I knew it looked familiar...

Want a Wii with no internet connectivity, no backwards connectivity, but is as small as humanly possible for $99?

Then the WII mini is for you. Follow the link for pictures and more information.

No thanks, man, I'm cool.

I think I'll get one, maybe in 2013 or so once they are at their cheapest. It's probably going to rival the Toploader NES in rarity 20 years from now.

And now it is announced that there is no SD Card support at all! That version is a total cash grab...

Its got no online so that isnt really and issue since you can't access the online store. Just need to save your games and that doesn't take much memory. I've got like 50-60 games saved on my Wii before it was full.

Eurogamer has a review up:

http://www.eurogamer.net/...-nintendo-wii-mini-review

We never quite bought into Nintendo's announcement that the Wii Mini would be Canadian exclusive - these console revisions aren't cheap and we assume that the platform holder will roll out the new hardware in other territories in due course. But having spent some time with the Mini, it's safe to say that we'd be quite happy if Nintendo never releases it elsewhere.

The composite only image struck me as an odd decision.  Tongue

"1/8 Stacking up the new Wii Mini with the original hardware and the Wii U, we find that while smaller, 'mini' is a somewhat optimistic appraisal of the situation."

Why would you need a smaller something that sits on top of your tv? If it's a portable device smaller may be better, but why for something that just sets there.
