Due to rarity more and more reproductions are being released. Currently the database has no sollution for these releases. I think it would be good to add a possibility of adding them with a new type of release "bootleg". I think it would be good way to keep difference between the original versions and the bootlegs. It could be used for repro's like Sapphire for PC-Engeine Arcade-CD, Darxide without region lock, Primal Rage 32X Pal repro with only english manual to mention a few, but also for unofficial release like Rockman for Pc-Engien Super CD-Rom. Does anybodey else has opinions on the case of bootlegs?

We have some repro carts in the DB but only from certain people like AtariAge and Good Deal Games. Part of the problem with listing repros is that theoretically anyone can make them, given the know-how and the right equipment. How would you keep track of all that? Plus there's also the obvious legal issues which is part of the reason why we've always been hesitant to add them to the DB.

For the repros I have that aren't in the DB (as well as other things not allowed in the DB) I just list them in my profile text.

My 2¢: While I own several repros, I don't believe there is a place for them here in the DB.

I was not aware of any repros in the DB. I knew there were homebrews and whatnot but reproductions don't belong in there as it stands now.

I also don't think they should ever have a place in there. If you have a repro/bootleg cart add a repro folder to your collection add the real version of the game to the folder and note what it is.

I don't remember us having any repros in the DB either. They probably shouldn't be there at all. If only for the reason its easier to say "no to all repros" than "yes to these, but not those".
The problem with repros and bootlegs is that anyone can make one. If I download a game and burn it to a disc, should I enter it into the DB? What if I burn it to a EPROM and put it in a donor cart?
Plus, there's often very little information out there on bootlegs, and what information there is, isn't usually reliable. So at best we'd have a section of titles in the DB with no information.

if i were staff i would say no because they're often illegal, hardly different from a pirate cart.

Reason I think it would be good to add them, is that then info can be added to the game information so it will be easier to spot differences between the repro and original relase. More and more rpros are created, some with the intention to be sold as the real thing. The fact they are a illegal doesn't mean they don't exist.

Another option would be to add this info to official release.

Feel free to add scans of them in the extra media field then and make sure they are all clearly marked as a bootleg.
