After years of denying fans, they finally listened to the outpour of angry posts on Japanese Miiverse. Anounced during todays Nintendo Direct. Earthbound will finally arrive before the end of the year.

Cool I've never played it.

Is that only Wii-U though?

Now Bickman will be forced to download it and put away his torch and pitchfork.

I just read the news (and searched here to see if someone posted about it). I'm very excited! I'll most likely download this, but I still do really, really want the SNES cart.

Hearing that Earthbound is coming to the Virtual Console is good news because now I have an affordable way to play the game, and it might actually lower the cart prices. Let's hope that happens. Maybe Mother 1 and 3 will get digital releases too.

I'd be happy if the price dropped a bit. Wouldn't mind owning the cart again.

It makes me wonder if they are going to change the music to avoid issues. Should be interesting...

So you owned it at one point? Why'd you get rid of it?

Yeah, good point. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I was bummed at first to see the 'bubble burst' on Earthbound carts, but I am doing my best to remember that I didn't buy my copy to make money from it. I'm glad that, theoretically, this will allow more people to experience such a unique and interesting game.

I like that it was announced because Iwata noticed the "pleas from very passionate fans on the Miiverse message board."  I'd love to see this game go platinum.  Makes me marginally more interested in the Wii U, too, but only a tiny amount.
