I just don't agree with it so I'm not going to do it. Is that understandable?
Semi-understandable. I'm of the opinion that, honestly, a price tag of more than $20 for a video game is completely unreasonable. A DVD movie costs $20. Why would a game be more expensive?
Having said that, most games you would want screenshots of are almost impossible to find anywhere (at least for TG16 stuff). And it's hardly effecting the game manufacturers any as they are no longer producing these games, so they are not losing money.
Now tell me, do you believe in open-source? There are a lot of open-source products that do what licensed products do - would you rather not use open-source apps or games because it's morally wrong? I know it's not the same thing, just curious.
all the talk about it's okay to have back ups of games you already own is a bunch of hooey./quote]
Not really. Do you backup your data? Word documents? Important files? How is that different? In Canada, it isn't against the law to backup this stuff (music included). In fact, you can get a business license as a Playstation mod-chip installer because, by definition, the Playstation can't play it's own backups, so installing a mod-chip is repairing a defective product. Distributing MP3s and games is a different story, but backing your shit up is essential. This is also why there are so many emulators out there, that haven't been sued by Nintendo or whoever.
and who that has roms ONLY has roms of games they own? not too many either.
You're right - not many. But let me tell you how many times I've fired up the ol' N64 to play Mario64 when I can play it with enhanced graphics and save features on my XBox. Zero. It's all about convenience.
Having said all that, you can do whatever you want to get screenshots. Just thought it'd save you a LOT of time, and produce better results using the emulation method. And honestly, very few software titles I have (games included) are not pirated. If I win the lottery, that may change, but it's doubtful
