well actually it was a Beatles cover band. they were called Yesterday and Today. my wifes old high school was doing a benefit for tsunami relief. they were donating to the Salvation army for a rebuilding project in Sri-LAnka. whatever proceeds the concert made was being matched by a local CVS Pharmacy.

they did 2 sets. the first as the early Beatles, the 2nd as the more hippy Beatles. they sounded real good. they had a kid from the school drama club introduce them impersonating Ed Sullivan.

It was cool. my daughter loved it.

I've seen two Beatles cover bands before.  One was at The Evil Leon's high school.  They were pretty good.  Another band, though, I saw in Canada at Canada's Wonderland.  Of course I'm not old enough to be able to tell the difference, but my parents claimed that it was hard to tell them from the real thing.  They were indeed very, very good.  At the very end of their act, they started to play "Imagine" and cut themselves off and said something like, "Oops, that's not one of ours."  They ended up finishing it later, but they were a great act.  Apparently they were in the middle of a tour all over Canada and the U.S.  Somebody must think they're good.

Unfortunately I can't remember the names of either of the cover bands I saw.

the band I saw last night cracked a similar joke. the guy playing Paul started playing the opening piano riff from a Wings tune then stopped himself and said " oops I haven't written that one yet."
