I just got a letter in the mail today that Microsoft is recalling the power suply for any Xbox manufactured beforeOctober 23, 2003 needs a replacement..
Go to www.xbox.com to get info on the replacement cord or call 1-866-271-0450.

Power supply or just power cord?  That would be an enormous problem for everyone (owners and Microsoft) if it is the power supply, and not just the cord.

Oops yes it is only the power cord.

It can cause burning inside the console or the power cord can melt where it connects to the Xbox.

So it really is true that Xboxes (is that the right plural of Xbox?) catch on fire....  Fascinating.

I got my letter sometime last week.  I'll probably get the new cord just to have an extra one (assuming I don't have to send in the old one).

I'll keep it with my system box so that in the odd case I ever tire of my Xbox and get rid of it.  That way whoever gets it from me will have proof that I replaced the power cord.
Well that and the fact that it isn't every day that I receive a "personal" letter from the land of Xbox! |D

The thought of framing it actually crept into my mind.  |D

I keep all of the leters i get from gaming companies.
As for this cord i think they will only replace it if you can prove ownership of an Xbox befoer that date.
haven't read for sure but if that is not the case i will be getting an extra power cord myself.

I still have a letter I got from Atari when I tried to return the combat cart that came with my heavy-sixer.
