So I am having a shitty morning....

My brother calls me and said our Uncle passed away this morning. My Dad is pretty upset and I had to get ahold of our brother in Iraq to let him know about it.

sad time for the Johnson's  Cry

That really sucks man.
Hopefully nothing else will happen to compound with that.
Best of luck with everything else.

LIFE
I think that I shall never see...
3000 years ago the world was a giant place. Expansive forests untouched lands.
Skies were for the birds, trees were forever and nature's worst invention had yet to form a plan.
But our population grew and with it grew ambition and desire to conquer all we can and
Own what we cannot, throw the unnecessary away.
Today only 5% of the forests in our country exist of what there was just 200 years ago and beautiful feats of nature formed by
Thousands of patient practice are destroyed without a second thought for "precious" resources that will make the
Economy grow. My grandparents had never seen a plane, a skyscraper or a motor car or a cell phone or t.v.
My parents worked so hard to destroy the gifts given to us now my grandchildren will never see a tree.
Someday I'll take a small child down to the last grass covered hill in my town and say, "the whole world was once like this and more."
But words and photographs won't make them understand. The dinosaurs have been around for thousands of more years than we could
Ever hope to be and isn't it ironic we're the ones destroying the earth instead of the planet killing me.
A friend of mine use to deep sea dive but he doesn't do it anymore. He gets tears in his eyes when you ask him why and says,
"The ugliest stretch of ocean floor ten years ago is a thousand times more beautiful than the most beautiful today."
That was ten years ago. Only ten fuckin' years ago.

this poem is one of my all time favorites, it's on the back of my 'The Broadways' record. I like it because it holds a lot of truth to it. Humans are nature's worst creation. With the exception of the ice age there is no natural disaster that has caused more damage to the planet than humans have. Humans transport animals from one continent to the next introducing them to a world where they have no natural predators. The Red Fox was transported to Australia from England for fox hunts and has now caused the extinction of several animal species. Pigs that were introduced to Australia are killing off the crocodiles. At one point there were nine California condors in alive. Nine! For an entire fucking species! Now there is something like 16. When Lewis and Clark were traveling to the northwest they would kill a buffalo and only use the tong. During the early days of the transcontinental railroad passengers on the trains would pass Buffalo, stick their guns out and just slaughter, them and leave the corpses to rot. No other animal has Slavery. No other animal has created or dropped nuclear bombs. We have the technology to create cars with that don't use oil so we won't need to drill for it and destroy the planet.

Sorry, along with being my favorite it also gets me to think about stuff like that which really gets me pissed off and riled up.
