Hello all!

First, if you don't me, the name's Jason from Game-Rave.com (hi!), and I come seeking your help.

The Situation:
The PlayStation "Mortal Kombat Trilogy" has three known data variants. The original release, the 2nd release, and the Greatest Hits release. Each successive release improved / repaired glitches or bug fixes. Ironically, the fixes eventually led to new bugs in the GH release. All three are common, the problem is telling the Black Labels apart.

The Observation...
I come here seeking the missing "Black Label Release" I need. I *think* the difference is that the original disc was a brownish tint on the artwork, where the 2nd printing was more of an orangish color. I would need the brown one.

From looking over eBay, camera flashes / pic quality this is too hard to discern, so I'm hoping I can acquire it here.

The other way to tell...
The possible other way to tell is that if tossed into a PC / Mac, the Properties / Get Info may reveal the file change date. Here's the Info of what I have:

My Black Label: December 31, 2000 / September 26, 1996 (493.2Megs)
My Greatest Hits: December 31, 2000 / November 24, 1996 (502 Megs)

My theory is that the missing version I need would either have a August or October 1996 date, and have a meg size not the same as either one.

I'm offering $35 Shipped for a good to great condition of a complete copy. Thanks in advance!
Jason

Hit up izret101 - he's the resident MK man. He may not be aware, but can help track one down. Is the PSRM the same? Any other discerning features besides the tint of the press?

Not that I can tell so far...PSRMs all match. The GH doesn't even have the GH in the SLUS...

If you want to throw this out to Twitter, include @collectorcast in it and I'll retweet.

Variant collectors are funny.
I know of 3 different Dancing Stage Party Edition variants (not counting Platinum).
Orange disc: SLES-03882 (I own this one disc only)
Different orange disc: SLES-03882#2 (My sister owns this one boxed)
Purple disc: SLES-03882#2 (I own this one boxed)

I'm sure you're aware, but they're inconsistent with that even on new Best Seller releases.
Unfortunately, I left my laptop at home today, but I'll look into it on Friday.

Indeed. We seem to have confirmed the third one thanks to a GR reader, but he ain't selling. Smiley APparently the brown disc is a few days difference date than the orange disc.

Do you have a comparison to show the hue for the brown print? I can keep an eye out for it.

This would be the orange
http://www.ebay.com/itm/M...s&hash=item2ed65c59de

This would assumedly be the brown one (except incomplete and not worth $30+ )

That's what I thought. I've seen some of the brown ones on eBay, and they're a much darker shade.

Midway variants don't surprise me for that era. Dreamcast had patched versions (HOT! NEW PRICE), N64 had a patched cart and Midway logo variants abound. Trilogy was a mess when it released.
