Sounds a lot like my childhood. I watched HBO mostly at my cousin's house when I would spend the night on the weekends. So many terrible movies like The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension.

I read somewhere that the proposed story to the unproduced Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League that was teased at the end of the first film was reworked and eventually became...

You take that back!  Buckaroo Banzai was great... wait, I was 8 so my opinion could be flawed.

@Zag  Super Fuzz was one of my favorite movies as a kid and I was only able to snag a terrible (sometimes working) VHS copy years ago.  Thanks for the reminder to look for an upgrade.  Great movie.

What, you've never heard of amazon.com? I bought a DVD copy from there a over a decade ago.

Brain Dead, or as you Americans call it Dead Alive. A Peter Jackson film made before LotR. Absolutely brilliant.

In the same vein the evil dead films (though the first isn't as much comedy).
