A little tip to rack up points: at the top of the waterfall, before you fight the alien, you can pick off all the enemies as they spawn.

We're not doing that, right? Cuz there's a few places in this game where you can just stand there and shoot and rack up points.

Good point. As a first time Contra player (that score was my fourth time playing the game) I wasn't aware of these point farming spots. I don't want to say it's fair, but it's not exactly the right thing to do. I guess Rich can make the call if point farming isn't acceptable.

I never knew you could farm points in the game and I guess the reason is that there is no score counter on the screen, so I never even thought about it; you can only check your score after you die or in between stages. I'd say that to keep the integrity of the competition high, participants should not intentionally farm. I'm okay with Floyd keeping his last score, as I don't see any malice behind it and it's not overwhelmingly out of reach for other competitors. PARTY ON!

I think I got to a point in the game where I thought I could just stand here and keep shooting but I got bored pretty quick and I really wanted to progress and get further than I have before. Although we're playing for the high score, a big part of the game for me is to get past the last stage I'm stuck on.

FatherJack moves up and Disposed Hero moves to the unfamiliar position of last. Tight race.

Disposed in last?! How could it be?

I'm so excited to start Rolling Thunder. That game looks so great. This competition has been a blast so far and I'm really enjoying playing all these games for the first time.

Not at all.  We're still in the middle of week 1 so there's plenty of time to play all three games.

Yeah, we considered Sunset Riders, but decided that it was too expensive and wanted to keep the cost of the games lower to encourage more participation.  It would have been a fun one though!

Read my tip about the truck. You gotta fire fast, but you can take it out with the normal gun.

Allow me to raise the bar a bit:

I got to Stage 6 which is a personal record for me.  Those streams of fire can be tough to avoid, but I can tell it's just a matter of getting the patterns down.

Yep, the Energy Zone isn't bad once you get it down.
