You have to give this a try if you're using Firefox.

That helps a lot.  I was using Opera, which loads faster, but just simply doesn't load some things.  This fixed the speed problem with Firefox.  Thanks!

I tried this out and it does seem to speed things up.  However, some of the comments under the article hinted that the hack might increase the load on some servers, so it's a two-edged sword I guess.

Firefox is about the same as IE out of the box.  Lots of people told me that Firefox was much faster than IE, but after having used Firefox for eight or more months, it is (without this mod) no faster than IE whatsoever.  It is a bit different.  It hadles pages with lots of small images (like these boards) better than IE.  However, one thing I don't like is that with sites set up with tables (this site, IMDB, etc.), Firefox loads each coulmn at a time, and formats later, rather than formatting first and filling in last (like IE).  Some people may say this gets the content up sooner, but I disagree.  The overall time for the whole page to be up is the same, and I don't like all of my pages to be reformatting themselves as different columns are loaded.  That is annoying.

Back on topic, though - this mod has indeed sped up load times a lot so far.  Haven't come across pages that were slower yet.

There is one change for the worse, I think.  Ever since I started using this mod, when I navigate the forums, sometimes the browser doesn't recognize that you've read all new posts within a part of the forum, and leaves that part lighter instead of darker grey (only for the first reload I think...so it's loading the page faster but without updating all aspects).

For example, new posts in the "Idle Chatter" part of the forum...I click on that part, then click on one of the threads, read the new post(s), click "Back" on my browser once, and then click on "Mark Topics as Read"...then I get back to the main forum page, and the "Idle Chatter" is still highlighted (sometimes)....so I click again only to find out that there is no new post since the one(s) I just read.  Follow me?

Kinda hard to explain, and I'm a little too tired to see if it all makes sense, but I think you should get what I mean Wink

I went to apply this mod and noticed my values were already changed to what the page said to change it to.  Then I remember I applied this mod a few months ago Smiley

This story tells us that yes, I do believe it makes things a bit faster, but I can't really tell anymore.
