So a few days ago (I wanna say Monday) I got a new computer.  My old computer's hard drive was deteriorating and Best Buy roped me into just getting a new one.  Don't ask how, even I'm not sure.  Anyway, when I booted up my new Gaming Laptop and installed Steam three weird things happened.

1. I got a message saying a payment for a game purchased in 2014 was revoked...but my account didn't exist until May 2016.

2. ALL 14 games in my library were gone

3. Two games, neither of which I'd purchased (one from 2014 and one from 2012, again BEFORE my account existed) were in the library.

Naturally I contacted Steam's support.  They haven't responded yet, but I got to thinking and, on a hunch, I fired up my old computer and sure enough my entire library was intact.  Does anyone know what's going on and, if so, how to fix it and get the games to show up in my library on my new laptop?

Are you sure you're signed into the correct account?

i've signed into multiple computers with my steam account and never had the same issue, my games were always there. as Pam said, that sounds a lot like you somehow got into someone else's account by mistake...whether it was your mistake, or some glitch with steam itself, i can't say. i'd recommend signing out on the new computer and sign back in, just in case.

edit: have you ever set up game library sharing on steam? it's also possible you're seeing someone else's library that way...there's a drop down filter above the game list where you can choose what games to show, make sure it's set to "my games".

I actually did sign out when I tested my hunch last night.  Let me log back in and check the game drop down as well.  If someone else's library is popping up in my account they must've abandoned their own account two years ago as there's only two games (the ones dated purchased in 2012 and 2014).  I'll get back to you guys in a bit after I've tested it.

EDIT: Well I logged out and back in and it won't show any other games except for those two.  So there's definitely something odd going on.  I can probably try to set up sharing on my old laptop and see if that returns my library back to normal.

I think I'm going senile and I'm only 28...according to a Steam Staff member, the account I logged into is a second account that was made back in 2012 and I have no recollection of doing that.  They said there were two accounts associated with my email so when I logged into the second username my library reappeared.

Hopefully they can close the old one without affecting my current account.  Honestly, I see no reason to need two accounts and if I want either of the games in the old one I can purchase em anytime (or rather when my budget permits and I have a must-buy list)

Me too.  Now I just have to solve a computer glitch where if I game long enough I lose control of the up, down, left and right keys (cost me about three lives in Sonic Generations when he auto-ran to the left and I lost control of the keyboard >_> )
