According to Famitsu, the PS3 will not be shipping with a hard drive, but of course it will support one.  The article doesn't say whether or not the HDD will be available at launch or later on.

I'm sure a big part of this is to keep the already high price down.  If they do release the thing at $399 still though, without a hard drive, that makes the price seem even higher still.  IF, and I stress the IF, Sony does ship it without a hard drive, the price suddenly rises to probably $499 if you want the HDD.  Sucks if you ask me.

Indeed.
I am going to hold out in hopes of a Halo 3 limited edition console.
Otherwise it will just be like tholly a tons of price cutting

I know, I'm working on it. I'm going to try and get a copy of Quest for the Rings with all the parts and the box and stuff off ebay soon. Then I think I'll buy a large lot to get most of the rest.
