Saw that this one has a 4 player splitscreen option and was intrigued. Apparantly, you can battle each other and attempt to recruit civilians to try to protect you.

Anyone played this one?

As usual, this is a budget title I'm looking to buy and any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I've played the PS2 vesion and didn't really like it. It's basically just smashing people's heads in. Think GTA without the cars and vast city.

Did the PS2 version have mulitplayer?

I'm pretty much just looking to buy it for xbox since it can accomodate 4 player splitscreen.

I have the PS2 version as well. I think I got it at Blockbuster for $3 bucks or something. I haven't played it.

I played the PS2 version and thought it was terrible.  When the game first came out, there was a lot of hype surrounding it.  Some stupid GameStop employee claimed it was better than GTA3.  While I didn't buy that comment, I figured it might be good.  The Evil Leon and I rented it, and it was awful.  The first thirty seconds were great fun, but VERY quickly it became obvious that there was nothing of substance to the game.  Like mark said, it's pretty much just smashing people with blunt objects.   Add running back and forth through monotonous missions that consist of carrying Object A between points B and C, and you pretty much have State of Emergency.

I did not play the multiplayer, but I highly doubt it can be that great considering how terrible single player was.

Yeah. I had an ebay bid on it for a total of $5.29 (bid + shipping), but I got outbid.

I'll keep an eye out for it. After looking at the manual, the mulitplayer still looks like it could be fun even though the campaign seems to be a waste.

If your looking for a deep game playing experiance, look elsewhere but if you want to work out some aggression this is the game to buy.  I play this every once in a while for 10-15 minutes just for some quick fun.  The multiplayer sounds like it could be worth a spin.

The PS2 version looked great, and for the first 5 mins of gameplay I thought it would be - but it was far too dull and samey.
