@Normatron - I like Pinball Quest too, it's such a unique game that someone should do a spiritual successor to.

@Duke0619 - Nicely done!! Out of curiosity what got you to go for Commando right off the bat?

I took down Swamp Thing tonight. For a Super Hero-ish kind of game I really felt weak and powerless as a character.  Spent 90% of the game dodging dangerous enemies like a tin can....... and a snake. I'm freaking Swamp Thing!! The middle of the game was a bit tough, but otherwise wasn't too bad. Took it down quick and spent the rest of my play time on Mad Max. I was actually able to make it to the final boss (with the use of a guide to navigate those treacherous overworld maps. I used the code the game provided me to enter the last arena and when it put me against the boss I ran out of ammo. So I looked it up and apparently if you use the code that you get you can't beat the game because of the lack of ammo. SO I'm gonna have to go back one section (which I also have the code for) and do that whole section and stock up on ammo for that fight and then make it through the car battle before fighting him again. It'll take a while, but it's doable.

Thanks Crabby. I have a lot of nostalgia for Commando and haven’t played it in a while. It’s a flawed port but I love the earlier Capcom games, especially gunsmoke but I just beat that a few weeks ago.

I was thinking of tackling it over the weekend, but I am glad you are doing Mad Max instead.  I've beaten it (you do have to seriously stock up on ammo for the last boss), but I really hate the game, despite it being an NES open world game.  I love the franchise (always have), but I knew when I received it for my b-day once it was not good.

I'm a huge fan of Ghosts n Goblins and Trojan so I can relate a bit. Glad to have you on the scoreboard and good luck on Rush n Attack!

That's a rough birthday Sad I got Hydlide for my birthday one year so I feel your pain. I thought Mad Max was going to be longer. I'm pretty happy it's a relatively short game.

Knocked Rocketeer off the list. Pretty good game, nothing special really. They did make using the jetpack pretty fun.

Man Rush N Attack is brutal. One hit deaths, no continues, pushing up to jump. I forgot how tuff this game is.

Isn't Fire Striker on the SNES a bit of a spiritual successor. Pretty similar at least.

I’m definitely having a tough time but I am making progress. I’ve made it to level 4. The good thing is the boss battles are super easy so far.  I’ll get there. I’m a stubborn gamer and will persevere!

Took way more tries that I wanted it to, but I finished Mad Max tonight. It's another one of those games that has a very cool concept and just fails at making it fun in any way. Not a great game.

@Duke0619 - Stubborn is the best trait for retro gaming! That's how I get through a ton of the stuff I play, lol.

I used to play NES at a buddy's house, as a kid. He had Madmax and sometimes it would come out. Usually, to be quickly replaced in the toaster, with Bases Loaded II.

Those are both awful games, poor friend.

I'm on a short hiatus while I join the playcast boys in beating Dragon Warrior so that is where most of my play time has been the last 2 days and probably the next couple from the looks of it.
