Well done with Platoon! Good luck with Bayou Billy, that a tough one for sure. Very fun though.

I was finally able to beat Best of the Best: Championship Karate today. After many hours and quite a bit of experimentation I found a way to cheese out the fight I was stuck on. I think on the two player mode this game may be the most impressive fighting game on the system.

Since I had some extra time I also beat 8 Eyes for the first time as well. If you were looking for a Castlevania game, but worse in every conceivable way than this is the game for you!

Beat Gyromite. Game A has some specific paths you need to take in later levels that may occasionally trip you up, but is otherwise a pretty easy game. Game B is very easy as long as you react as soon as an enemy appears on the right edge of the screen. Took me 19 minutes to beat game B. I wouldn't bother with it. Stick to game A for some Crazy Castle light.

Beat Contra Force after returning to it months later. I had to beat it with Burns, which took a while. Stage 3 is a pain in the butt, but the last two are pretty easy. It's ok if you're really hankering for a run and gun, but will be short for those with a lot of experience with the genre. Enjoy the Engrish!

Well done shane!! I should have some game time tonight to dedicate to the NES so I'm going to try one of the following: Knight Rider, Dragon Power or Bad Street Brawler and see how that goes. I was planning to start some more KOEI games, but it seems the batteries need to be replaced in them first so I need to get around the that asap.

Played a bunch of Bad Street Brawler last night. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Did finally manage to get a run to the final stage, but I had to leave for work and shut it down. Hopefully I can have another good run today, but not sure I'll have time or not yet.

I made it through the second driving stage of The Adventures of Bayou Billy. This game is definitely a bit challenging, but every time I sit down to play I get a little bit further.

Been playing some Cobra Triangle lately. Can get to Stage 19 but getting better at it. Definitely a fun game despite the repetitive stages.

Beat Zen: Intergalactic Ninja. There's 4 boss fights in a row at the end! One of them is nega-Zen, and he refills his health repeatedly. The game was pretty level in difficulty until then, so it makes me wonder if there were supposed to be actual levels in between the bosses and they ran out of space. It is a 256KB cart, where games like Castlevania III are 384KB. Maybe they couldn't spring for the extra ROM chip on the carts.

Cobra Triangle Taken Down! The last boss is tricky but once you figure it out its pretty simple

Ok, beat Widget. This is a very clunky platformer. Your gun shoots slowly, you move slowly, and a lot of the jumps are within a pixel of pixel perfect. The boss fights have easy enough patterns, though, and some enemies respawn so you can farm health and magic replenishment. Your character can change into different forms after beating most bosses, which allows you to reach inaccessible areas or have greater attack power. For the most part, you don't use them like you do with Little Samson.

And that's my 100th NES game completed this year! Unfortunately, that means I'm going to focus on my other challenge of beating one game per system I own before my birthday (2/28), so I may not play more before the challenge is over. Good luck to everyone! Hurry up and get that Miracle Piano game beaten! That's likely a full time job for a week, so there's not much time left to tackle that one.

Are we ending this at the end of the year or are we continuing on after the New Year?

@shane - Thanks so much for all the time and effort over the year. You've been a massive help with this challenge. Good luck with you other 2019 gaming goals!

@Fokakis - wow! Cobra Triangle is no joke. Fantastic job! To answer your questions if we don't hit out target by the end of the year I'm totally up to let it spill over into 2020 and keep tracking everyone's completions.

I've had some game time the last couple days and was finally able to take down Bad Street Brawler. It's not a great beat em up, but it is quite neat that it give you a new move set to use in every level and continues introducing new enemy types right up until the end of the game.

Also been working on Knight Rider which was surprisingly awesome. Imagine Rad Racer, but with lasers, missiles, an upgrade system and the ability to turbo jump your car over the other cars. Easily among my favorite racing type games on the system now. Very happy to discover this gem this deep into the library for me.
