It's been a while, I know. For the return of weekly featured games, I've chosen for the first time to feature a GameBoy Advance game, and possibly the first ever handheld game to be featured at RF Generation. Like the last featured game (
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
),
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
is a role-playing game featuring everyone's favorite plumbing duo.
Unlike the last featured game, though,
Mario & Luigi
is a two-player co-operative RPG. Though players constantly beg for co-op gameplay, developers seldomly give in to these demands. Why? Does it really matter? Are there enough other multiplayer modes in most games to keep you happy, or do you too find the rare co-operative mode a valuable commodity?

I lpayed it for a few hours when at my cousins.
It is a pretty cool game.
I liked the way you swaped between characters and the battle systems harkened back to Mario RPG for the SNES.
Very cool

I got this game shortly after it came out, and although I haven't beaten it yet (or played it in a VERY long while), I'm going to say that this game is a LOT of fun. Mario & Luigi:Superstar Saga combines action and turn-based RPGs very well, and the end result is a blast to play. The graphics are cutesy and colorful, which fits perfectly with the style of this game, and the soundtrack is fitting as well. Walking around is interesting, as the A button performs the front character's actions and the B button performs the back character's actions (you can switch the two by pressing START). Battles act in exactly the same way, with A controlling Mario and B controlling Luigi. If you have enough magic points, you can perform a special "Bros Move" (or something like that) that uses both Mario and Luigi to do a more powerful attack. Lots and lots of fun to be had with this one.

I would agree that this game is a ton of fun. I find the battle mechanics or both this series and the Paper Mario series to be superb, and it does have a story that isn't half that bad. I can't wait for Partner's in Time to come out this holiday season, and combined with MarioKart DS, I shall be spending a long time with my DS and Mario.

I've never played or heard of this game before
But I have to agree that co-op games, especially RPG's are always much more fun, so I'll definitely give this game a try if I ever get the chance to! A few other good co-op RPGs come to mind as well: Secret of Mana, Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes, Gladius, and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2. I personally enjoy co-op RPGs more than single-player RPGs, since you don't get pulled into the RPG world as badly

Just to clarify something, the only multiplayer aspect of this game is the same multiplayer aspect that you find in Super Mario Advance 1-4 - two people can play Mario Bros. This game can be described as cooperative in that Mario and Luigi have to cooperate to get through certain places, not because it has a two-player cooperative mode.
Still, it is a rather enjoyable RPG, and I would rank it very highly in terms of GBA RPGs.

This game's characters are absolutely hilarious and the battle system is great. While it is fun while is lasts, its pretty short, and there really is no sense of accomplishment after finishing the game because all you get at the end is a parade (
yay
) The Bros. moves get more powerful as you use them, but the game is so short that you don't even have time to raise them all up without battling solely for the sake of doing so. Still, a good title, 8/10
