Thought I's fire up an old topic. Right now in NJ it sits at $7.25/hour. When I got my first job it was $5.15

It is rising to like $8 soon.

I believe it's $7.25 an hour in Wisconsin. I know it was $5.15 when I got my first job.

Stupid how you make less working 40 hours a week at minimum wage than the government will pay you to be unemployed or "disabled."

Same story that Arrrhalomynn mentioned over here in Australia. Minimum changes based on age. But here it doesn't apply to apprentices. They have a separate award that goes up based on the years they have been an apprentice.

Under 16 years of age  $5.87
At 16 years of age   $7.55
At 17 years of age   $9.22
At 18 years of age   $10.90
At 19 years of age   $13.17
At 20(+) years of age   $15.59.

Year 1 of apprenticeship $10.22
Year 2 of apprenticeship $12.08
Year 3 of apprenticeship $14.87
Year 4 of apprenticeship $17.65.
