I'm going to take it to the store & see if they will honor it. If not, then I'll just get the console + 1 controller (due to the gift card situation) and go to Circuit City for the memory card and a couple of games (again due to the gift card situation) to save some $.

I got it on my lunch hour!

Tyn, they did honor the bundle deal I posted above.

I passed on the extended warranty offer, though. Is that a good/bad move? It didn't seem worth it...

The only time your really going to want to get a warrenty now seems to be on the PSP.

Although Dan bought We <3 Katamari at TRU and that had holes in the DVD.
So there are always freak problems.
I am pretty sure TRU only will take back too if you get their protection policy.
Don't know.

The warranty was like $25/$30 or something for I think 2 years. The sales girl on the floor and the sales girl at the counter BOTH "recommended" that I get the extended warranty. That gave me the impression that they train their staff to ask every customer to buy an extended warranty on everything they sell, so that's why I said no.

One of the girls did mention that due to the smaller fan in the newer, slimmer version of the PS2 that it's more likely to overheat. Is there any truth to this?

Well that was a coherent english sentance.

While it might make sense that it would over heat i don't think it is true.

Unles your leaving all the vents blocked and have it running for a few hours then yea probably.

But i can't remember hearing any instances of it over heating.
Not to say it never has or never will.
There is always the possibility and i could just be grossly misinformed.

Just the fact that it is a Sony system means it will have to potential to break more then the Xbox or Gamecube.

The laser might be more likely to break, but Microsoft systems are definitely more prone to overheating.  I've never heard of a PS2 overheating, but both Xbox and Xbox 360 have had big issues with this.

I will look through some Gamepros because now that I think about it I might have read in a buyers beware section that they over heat.

I worked at Gamestop for little over a year and I never heard some one say their GameCube or XBox broke down. My brother had a XBox break. It was teh CD drive.

Many Many many people bitched about their PS2. One guy came in to buy his 5th PS2 becasue the other 4 broke. We talked him into buying a XBox instead.

Seen 2 or 3 broken GCNs(one laser, one busted gear)
Dozens of broken PS2s(laser, busted ports, busted gears) None of these where slim line
Dozen or so busted Xbox (laser, DVDdrive)

Thats just at one local shop over the course of a year.
Nearly all of the damages where due to user fault too.

I got a plan on our's but that's because the last PS2 in this house ended up going out the back door when my man got pissed at a game. Fortunately this plan I have covers even tossed PS2s so long as all the parts are brought in... All for $20 Canadian...lol

Speaking of wierd games did that Dog's Life game turn out to be any good?

I especially liked the fact that you could hop onto the hood of moving cars and take a dump on it.

I gues that means I need to give you back your copy of Disgaea. I still haven't tried it.

If you want to borrow any games I've got about 270 you can choose from.
