I haven't been paying much attention to this one, but from these trailers, it looks to be a pretty impressive game...

I'm not so sure if I agree with you. It does look kinda neat, but nothing to wow at. I didn't have sound on, so maybe I missed something, but to me it looked like more of the same, with prettier graphics.

From what I read this game brings the game back to its root and back from its funk.  OXM gave it a 8 out of 10.

I hope this game is like the first two in the series, I might have to pick it up if it got an 8 out of 10 at OXM.

Haha. I never played the first, loved the second one, III was impossible, IV was too annoying to play, never played V, tried playing AOD but it was unplayable on PC.

I've heard the same. And even though I missed all the previous versions of the tomb raider series, the trailers lead me to believe that the game has a good balance of action/adventure and puzzle-solving elements. We'll see.

I never cared for the Tomb Raider games, so I'm not excised about this one.

I'm hoping that it's got a lot more to it than just trying to rely on its looks and hype. That said, the 360 graphics and sound effects are amazing! The animations and speech matching also seem to be really well done.

So far, I'm more encouraged by what I've seen of this than I am of the Godfather game.

Rented this one over the weekend and put a few hours into it. I'm definitely liking it so far.

My only gripe is that when you die, the loadtimes are a little long. However, graphics and sound are excellent. Gameplay is challenging, but not overwhelming. Solid, intuitive interface. Plenty of unlockables. So far it seems to me that they got it right...

I heard it's really short.

I've never played a tomb raider game.

I've heard that as well. However, it does unlock Time Trial modes as you clear the campaign levels along with additional secrets in Croft Manor. Completionists to get all the treasures/awards, etc. will be able to get a lot more out of this.

But if you just want to play the campaign and that's all, you're right, you may be better off renting. Or possibly buy it when it's been discounted.
