Why would they waste production capacity on this thing, when they didn't have enough PSP's?? Idiots.

Perhaps the PSX factory couldn't be retooled for the PSP.  I don't see why it couldn't be, just throwing it out there.

Does this make PSX a collector's item officially?

Ditto.  I thought they quit making them awhile ago!

I have 2 different model "original" PS1s and one of the PSOnes.

I was surprised that it was still being produced too though.
I was really surprised at that little bit at the bottom of the article too.
About the 2600 finally ending production in '91.

Didnt Nintendo just stop making the Famicon in the alst few years? Or did they finally stop supporting it?

I have to wonder if that's true at all. Sony keeps saying they don't have enough, but I'm trying to sell one on Ebay for well under the MSRP value. No one will buy it. That says something.

It's not quite a surprise that they did away with PSX's production, considering the backwards compatability seen in the PS2. That, and the whole emulator/ISO downloading on the Internet. I guess cancelling its production would be in good business acumen.

I can't see why anyone would have bought a PSX new in the last 2 years.  I pick up a used one for 7 bucks about a month ago.  There cheap as dirt everywhere.
