Chuck E. Cheese - Return of the Arcade?

Probably not. But I was pleasantly surprised to find some classic arcade games in one today.
Having a 6 year old I've been to Chuck E. Cheese numerous times in the past few years. It started as a full on arcade back when I was a kid but has morphed to kiddy games only place over the years. Sure they would have the occasional Wave Runner or Star Wars Trilogy but the place was dominated by Whac A Moles, penny rides and skee ball.
I was at one today and found that it has several "grown up" arcade games. There was a Space Invaders/Qix combo, a Donkey Kong/ Donkey Kong Jr./ Mario Bros. combo, a King of FIghters cab. There was also a pinball machine, a Golden Tee Golf, at least 5 sit down racing games, a jet ski game, a snowmobile game and DDR.
It was nice to see. I played quite a few games myself today.

Golden Tee is just about everywhere. That's one cool golf game. The trac ball is something that none of the current gen consoles have.

No kidding? And who says gaming isn't educational?
I haven't been in a Chuck E. Cheese in probably 15 years or more. There were ALOT of Showbiz Pizza Places around here, until they were all changed into Chuck E. Cheese. Showbiz had two huge game rooms full of every kind of game you could think of. That used to be one of the places my friends and I would go hang out in...pizza and games. And when we got older, it became pizza, BEER and games. Don't know if Chuck sells beer.

I haven't been to the local Chuck E Cheese for about a year but last time I went they did have a few games for the older kids (like me!) I was also suprised last week with my first visit to Dave and Busters (I took my son there for his 9th birthday). They had a nice assortment of classics along with all of the newer games. They even promote the classics on their web site. http://www.daveandbusters.com/Games/MidwayGames.aspx?Cat=5

Yes there is.
Nyko Classic Track Ball for PS2.
I believe there was 2 versions of it aswell.
In anycase the Chuck E. Cheese around here always had some OK arcade cabs but never got any new ones.
I haven't been in years but i remember every few years as a kid ne i was there there was never anything new.
The only one i really remember now is the Jurassic Park one that every place has.
Where you get inside and its like the car and you shoot dinos.

I dunno about Chuck E Cheese being that big a deal with the kids to be frank. Every time we took my buddy's kids they were more interested in the ball pit, stage show, and pizza.
Dave & Busters does a bang up business and every time I went the place was packed. There's also Jillian's which is like D&B. In Pittsburgh there's Games N'at which does good business and they're strictly an arcade. From what I understood from talking to the owner most of his business comes from birthday parties and one price day. Still I'd go in there any given day and time and there'd be folks playing. Mostly pinball and retro, and neo-retro games.
