I try not to use cheat codes at all. For the most part they ruin the gaming experience.

Some games they actually make it fun though, but I try not to use them otherwise.

I dont use cheat codes it defeats the purpose of playing..another thing is I get mad a my boy for doing it..He bought destroy all humans(more like i paid 50.00 for it) he played it for hours and hours. I asked him how far he got and he said 20 percent. Then a day later the game was thrown down and he was playing something else. I asked him why he wasnt playing destroy all humans..He said I beat it so he wouldnt play it anymore..he had went on line and got the cheat codes..so i feel i wasted 50.00 dollars.

I generally don't use cheat codes, but I do use in a few cases:

1.  Games like GTA.  Once I've played through the game, I will check up on all the cheat codes for when I just feel like playing for 5 mins or so.

2.  With some RPGs, like Morrowind, I get this habit of wanting to get it 100% complete.  I'll start playing the game without a walkthrough until I'm either finished or almost finished, and then I use a walkthrough to get all of the little pieces that I didn't manage to get without it, like hidden armors, potions, etc.

For me it's closer to about 15% but I usually just look up cheats for games like GTA where I just want all the weapons.

I said 50%

I figure 50% of the games i play now don't need cheats/walkthrus and the other 50% i look at guides later to see what i missed and alternatre strategies/routes etc.

I don't use cheat codes or walkthroughs because I mostly play arcade games.

25%, I generally rock at all games after a few minutes of getting adjusted but I, like others, do take the occasional peek at the walkthrough after I've spent seven hours trying to find some stupid door.

Cheatwise I'd say I only cheat after I beat a game or really don't want to bother to beat the game yet still want to play it. My favorite games to cheat on are the Hitman series.

I voted 25%. I don't use cheat codes but I do use guide books once in a while. Usually just if I get lost or am trying to get 100% completion by doing all the side quests.

The last game I played that I used a guide was Ico. There was a couple parts where I got lost and I used it to get the mace. You had to flip a large ball into a box to open a wall that hid the mace. I would not have even known it was in the game had i not seen it in a guide. You don't need it to beat the game.

I also consulted gamefaqs when I was trying to get all 100 wizards cards in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

I take the same approach.

I'll also use them for fighting games so I can learn the special moves, fatalities and such.

I voted 25% but it is more like 1%

I think cheating ruins the game. After I have beaten a game I will use cheats or if I really really get stuck I will use a cheat.
