Wewt! I was reading about "lapping" a heatsink, so I set about with some 800 then 1200 wet or dry and a piece of glass to flatten the very obviously concave heatsink. It's come down to 39-40c from over 50c. I can shut the fuck up about it now.

They sent you a concave heatsink?Huh
I'd ask for a new one.

You should demand a sandwich too.

Don't forget the chips!

Yes, you need to sandwich the thermal paste between the new heatsink and the computer chips.

No, I think the discussion is about demanding a sandwich and chips with his RMA.

My dad pisses me off so much.

He promised he would get me my money for the work I've done for him two and a half weeks ago. I asked him this Monday if he was ever going to get it for me. He said he would have it by Friday. So on Wednesday he decided to run away to some far off land. I picked him up today from the station and asked if he was going to get my money. "Yih... They should have fixed my computer by now". We went to the computer shop to check on his computer on the way home. It's a Sony Vaio. God knows why he bought it. These amateurs were sticking screwdrivers where they shouldnt, trying to get the case off. I saw a few bits snap. They decided it didn't have standard parts so said we should come back at the end of the day to get it after they had put it back together.

So I've lent dad my laptop with his own account on it so he can get to his emails and use Works. I watched him try to set up Outlook Express with his account. He got to the POP3 bit and he said "But it is POP3". "Yeah.. you need to put in the server name or else it won't know where to look for your emails." He didn't know what the server name was, so he expected me to tell him. I use Hotmail, I've never used OE. So I went on the ISP website and found a bit to log in with his email address. He tried it and couldn't work out why he couldn't log in. "Try the original password from when you set the account up". "I changed it". So he called the support line who told him to use the original password, which worked.

I bet his computer wouldn't be broken if he didn't look at crap porn with bad antivirus and IE6.

Christ.

I sat down to my half arsed dinner made by my dad. Two pancakes. It's not even Shrove Tuesday. Anyway, just as I started getting into it dad called from the office. "James! I can't log in to my account!". So I went to the office muttering under my breath. It turned out the bloody mouse wasn't plugged in.

The touch pad is too technologically advanced for him, so I plugged a proper mouse into it for him. For some reason unknown to anyone, he unplugged it and forgot he had done so.
