It has been rumored that Microsoft has been working on a portable gaming system.  Do you think it is true?

Is Microsoft working on a portable?  I have no clue.  But I definately wouldn't rule out the possibility.

No clue.

I haven't heard anything about it but then again i haven't been keeping up much on gaming news like i use to.
I think if they were though it would have been hyped up by now just to get people initerested.

I wouldn't put it past MS though.

I can't see anyhting they could add to the handheld market though.
Coming in this "late" would give them an edge on power for sure. But then they run into battery problems and the fact that they won't be able to offer anything all that new.

Although portable Xbox Live would be way better than Nintendo's WFC.
God did nintendo fuck that up.

Ditto Smiley

I think it would be cool, but seeing as how Microsoft is Microsoft, I'm not sure if any planned portable device would be solely for games.  If anything, I would assume they'd go for a type of hybrid if they do intend to market a portable for games, in a similar fashion to Nokia's Ngage.

I don't think it is a portable gaming system. It is a cross between a PDA and a Tablet PC.

Wishful on your part only because you're a Microsoft "Hate"-boy, right?  |D

If they are working on one, they've been wisely keeping it a secret until they'd know reasonably for sure that they'd be able to get a significant market to buy it. Right now they're very far behind in the game, so it could be an unnecessary risk to them. However, if they were to incorporate crossover compatibility with xbox1 games, then maybe they'd be on to something.

It's Microsoft, it was just announced that they were moving into the VoIP market, and it is their goal to own all of the Computer Realm, so I think somewhere there is that dreaded Microsoft handheld. Here's hoping it bombs.

You mean putting the XBox disc in a partable and being able to play it like that?  Some kind of portable DVD player/XBox platform/all new content?

I'd probably buy that.  If it was cheap enough. Cheesy

I believe they are working on one but it will fail miserably I think.  Like Speedy said, though, I don't think it would be solely for games.  It will do a bunch of other stuff.

Hmm... I think it would be a very bad idea.  There is just no room in the market.  The only chance they could have is if they could run sony out of the market, not only would that be hard to do, but even if they do they still would only have a third of the handheld gamers (The DS looks untouchable).  Unless they can find a way to produce a handheld system for dirt cheap with great graphics, gameplay, and ,the most important , third-party support, It ain't going to happien.  My shelves are full of handhelds that thought  they could F|_|ck with Nintendo.

Hell, if you look at it X-Box bombed -4Billion first 4 years, but that doesn't mean it won't keep being strung along. M$ just wants a foothold on the market and they're willing to foot the bill. Foot.

Wowww. I need to stop posting this time of night/morning.
