Wow.  Two psychos have already bid on this thing.  I don't know anything about it, but I'm guessing the seller must be known in some circles of the gaming community, because that's a lot of dough to drop with such a small item description.

This is an Atari 2000.  It is a prototype Atari system that was supposed to come out before the Atari 2600 jr.  There were only a few that were made and those were snapped up by Atari employees.  The guy who is selling this doesn't really want to sell it.  He is just getting some cheap advertising for the East Coast Gaming Expo.

btw, I didn't know all of this, they have a similar topic up on Atari Age.  Smiley  Just figured I'd come clean on my knowledge thaft.

So is the guy just going to cancel the auction before it ends?

He might, but the only two bidders are AA regulars that decided to bid on it as a joke.  Where the joke lies, I'm not sure.  The guy that put up the auction purposefully put a super high starting bid in the hopes that no one would bid on it.

But if the auction closes, won't he have to pay a percentage of the end bid to eBay?  I don't sell stuff on eBay, but I though that was how it worked.
