OK, so my PC's optical mouse just kinda randomly turns off now and then. To fix this I have to unplug the mouse from it's USB and then replug it in.

If you know how to fix this awesome, if not what I'd really like to know if this is my mouse dying or my PC dying.

do you use any other USB devices? My digital camera requires that I stop the device before unplugging it. Just unplugging it can supposedly damage the memory card. When I open the window to stop the camera any other USB devices connected show in the menu. I just click through the screens and then unplug the camera. A few times while quickly clicking through I've accidently turned off my external hard drive and had to unplug and replug it to start it again.

Only other thing is the DSL modem and occasionally my i-pod. After I get back from work I'm gonna find another mouse and see if the same thing happens. This mouse is old, 2001 I think.

Here, if you are going to spend 10 bucks... you might as well go all out and $20.

You can plug the mouse into the other USB port to determine whether the problem is with the mouse or the port. It sounds like the mouse, but you should make sure before you spend any money. Also, try plugging other USB devices into the USB port to see if they turn off or do anything strange.
