It is being reported right now that Microsoft will be releasing a line of media players based on the X-Box line and developed by none other than J Allard. Will this be successful?

Here's hoping that if it is really true (and apparently it is), that it fails miserably. We don't need Micro$oft controlling all markets, now do we?

I vote only in America. Nintendo is so big in Japan it would be compairable to the N-gage (as a gaming device) in the US. Someone will buy it, but no where near enough for it to survive. Plus, the Japanese already have the newest and coolest gadgets before anyone else gets them.

Huh? All markets? What reports are you reading? Sony is still dominating the console market with the PS2 and Nintendo is dominating handhelds. By the way, your statement reeks of Microsoft-hate, by any chance are you related to Leon?

I voted Europe and America. MS doesn't stand a chance in hell in Asia. They've had a ridiculously difficult time getting any kind of market share out of the console market there and that's not likely to change with a handheld.

I was not implying that Microsoft controls all markets currently, but to think that they do not wish to be first in all markets they enter would be absurd.

But isn't that the goal of ANY business...to have their product be first/best in its market? And what's wrong about that?

I think the XBOX media player/handheld will do well in America and Europe, but not a chance in Asia.  I do not even own an XBOX or 360, but yet I admit I am somewhat interested.

For me that is honestly tough to say.  I work as a PC technician and microsoft products frustrate me!?!  I am more of a Linux fan myself... Cool

Let's just hope it doesn't run on some type of Windows OS!

I agree with what has been said by others about the Asian market.  Wink
